...with the help of the pattern drafting tutorial. That one, alone, make up for the money spent. Somewhat to my annoyance, I find that there have been a costume competition this year for making a late 1860 gown. I've been toying with the thought of making one for a while, and it would have been fun to have been part of a group sewing. I really hope there will be another competition next year. There...
Hi all! My latest frenzy was getting ready for Sacramento Gold Rush Days, which has been held every Labor Day weekend since I don't know when, but I've been wanting to go for a couple of years. This event...htm I dressed my daughter as a saloon girl- which came out really cute and here's my finished gown. The event was pretty fun but not many people dressed up which is kind of a bummer...

My mom pointed this out to be in one of our of family albums, an I thought it was pretty cool! It's a colored pencil and was drawn by Maggie Daniel ( who is related to me...somehow) in 1867. Enjoy!

I made this corset out of 2 layers of heavy cotton drill and it is bound in commercial satin bias. It has 14 steel bones and laces at the back with grommets I drafted up the pattern and then...of the back edge, pressed and sewed it together. Bottom bias strip sewed on and put boning in the channels I finished off the top bias, put the grommets in and used a ribbon for the lacing cord.
