As you can see in the comic, we're having our house re-piped, which limits my access to the studio, and various other things, so this week will be five days of interesting comics!
... usually from 0830 to at least 1530. The schedule is starting to lighten up a bit. Today I was able catch my breath a bit... out of class at 1130. The sun was shining, a beautiful day. I had some antenna maintenace to do. A little bit of time on the roof and the majority of my HF problems were fixed. I'm now up on HF, except for 80M. I think a little work on my counterpoise will fix that. Back...
...been just a rainy and overcast mess and despite the weathersituation making the days a bit cooler for a change, I still haven't had the desire to get on the radio! I realised that I must tidy up the antennas soon ahead of the new ground plane antenna arriving hopefully on Wednesday so maybe tomorrow I can spend a bit of time doing just that - the 2m horizontal antenna can come down, hardly any activity...
...gloves at all times. One of the most common malfunctions in cable televisions is a blurred (or snowy) picture. Most often, a flaw in the coaxial cable connecting the TV (or VCR) to the cable antenna causes this: the wiring itself may be flawed or the fitting may be loose. To determine if this is the case, turn the television on and wiggle the coaxial cable where it enters the television and...
Thought about it and after discussing it with Patrick, WD9EWK, I decided not to try and lash up the Arrow to a mast as 1) I can't tilt the antenna up at all and 2) it would really appear to the untrained eye that it was a "Heath Robinson" affair - or to be more succinct and borrowing heavily from my American friends, it would probably look like it was "African-American Engineered"! So, after a bit...
...this evening, and then onwards. This really does appear to be the "one" that people are worrying about and although the cone of uncertainty is slightly west of us, I believe its all educated guesswork - you cant predict mother nature. So with that in mind its high time that I girded my loins and set up the 20m antenna, if for no other reason than the Hurricane Net which can be very helpful.
- Purchased and installed "chrome" antenna hole cover - Changed my mind and put the white cover back in place Well, after driving around for a few weeks with the wireantenna in the trunk lid rather than a traditionalmast, I'm reasonably pleased with it. On a clear day it performs quite nicely. On a stormy day it's a little bit more spotty than the OEM mast, though not terribly. Unfortunately...
...really good but when I put it in my car I get nothing. The computer is in the trunk and I figured it won't work but I wanted to try anyway :) So I'm working on connecting the radio module to my car antenna. I have a motorized antenna so I'm gonna have to come up with a solution to that as well. The module: Opening it up: Soldering the new connector: Finished product: Haven't...
...folding back the power on me, indicating that the swr was way off; indeed, when I checked the swr it was off the scale so I set about adjusting it. I realised that the close proximity of the 20m antenna to the 6m antenna and the aluminium pool cage meant that I was fighting a losing battle! Even the swr of the 6m antenna was way up in this configuration so I decided to resume the status quo...
