Resurrection Church in Aptos is hosting a very moving memorial to the Americans and Iraqis who have died in Bush/Cheney's misbegotten war. It is in the cemetery, facing Soquel drive. You can sort of see...representing all of the dead (based on US numbers, so imagine many many more). I am proud of my church for hosting this. I gotta say, they walked the bloody edge of endorsing Obama and No on 8 today ;-
My talk today is called "Come September." Writersimagine that they cull stories from the world. I'm beginning to believe that vanity makes them think so. That it's actually the other way around. Stories...herself for us. Another world is not only possible, she's on her way. Maybe many of us won't be here to greet her, but on a quiet day, if I listen very carefully, I can hear her breathing. Thank you

Yesterday, I went to a screening of the (not quite so underground) documentary Chicago 10. Later, that evening, I also went to see Spike Lee's " Miracle at St. Anna." Essentially, both movies...suffering Americans. How do you define citizenship? With recent events in mind, it's getting harder and harder to ignore the interconnectedness of the globe and how it affects the individual.
I dug this up too. I don't want to hear disagreements unless you've read all of it. By the way, I'm not a Democrat so don't go get that crazy idea in your head. As a firm-standing Democrat, I cannot...be enough money to cover the cost. If all of the rest of the modern European countries are able to do it, so should the U.S. to improve the quality of life for each person. - associatedcontent.co
This came across my email desk from the group Peaceful Tomorrows, a group of families of victims in the World Trade Center Bombings on September 11, 2001, that formed just after that horrific tragedy... occupation and war who have chosen to work for nonviolent solutions to conflict. We look forward to hearing from you. In peace and hope, September 11th Families for Peaceful Tomorrows
Everything is about time travel lately. I just started reading Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse-Five , and I just watchedthe movie Peggy Sue Got Married for the first time in ages. Yeah, OK those...horrific or comforting. I tend to be comforted by the sentiments of these voices of reason, but terrified that we have repeated history so many times, and within such a short amount of time.
