With all the attention on the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars , I realized that two other anniversaries of childhood favorites all but slipped under the radar. Well. I took a good bit of time this weekend to work on the IIGS project. I received the Turbo Microdrive controller with Compact Flash interface from GSE Reactive. http://www.gse-reactive.com/product_info...and how many are supported, etc, but frankly it was quite confusing.  I'll probably learn what works by trying it. :-) I'll have some pictures when I get things up and running as I want them.

I spent the evening taking pictures and futzing around with the system ...who wants to use them that seems like better than me - I'm never going to take advantage of either of them. For that matter, I may also sell the Vulcan card, though I'm not decided on that for sure.

So last night I decided to take pictures of the contents of the IIGS, in part for inventory's sake and in part to start getting a better understanding...revision that is talked about on that page, as you can see the obvious differences, including orientation of the chips on the card and the green LED on my card (red on the first revision, apparently).

I received the Luma & Chroma RCA style plugs (male) to single RCA video plug (male) and realized I'm kind of an idiot.  The cable is like 4 inches long.  So if I'd been paying attention, I would have...ADB mouse requires a mousepad for effective use (it is not the more modern laser type mouse, it's got the mechanical parts, the big ball in the center of it). More on this project as it progresses!

When I was a kid my father encouraged me to be interested in electronics and how they worked.  I remember he brought me a whole kit with a breadboard and taught me how to solder and such.  It was a long...the Amiga for gaming.   My big thing to overcome for the Amiga other than getting the TCP-IP stack running is to find out how to load games off floppy onto the hard drive. More if I'm successful!
