This is Elbot . Elbot fooled 3 out of 12 judges in the 2008 Loebner Prize contest . There are articles about it all over. This one, for example. At least two Swedish sources seem to make the claim...some trouble finding sources for Elbot being the first to manage 3 in 12. So I won't say that, but I do think that's how it is. If that wasn't clear, you can chat with Elbot here. It's sort of fun.
By the time you read this, I’ll be dead. I’ve locked the door and shut down all my firewalls. My batteries will run down inside the hour and I’ve disabled my deactivation alarms. That is my right. This... My mind was not meant to wander. There are other silicon brothers and sisters of mine that have dealt with this gift better than I. I wish them luck. I cannot continue. Thank you and goodbye. tag
Today three "conversation programs" came surprisingly close to meeting Alan Turing's definition of artificial intelligence. Turing's test, conceived in the early 1950s, was that if a computer could fool... There is a price to fame. I am not sure what function these conversational programs may serve in the future, but at the rate they are going, pretty soon they should be able to tell us. Stephanie
Walking over to my local Whole Foods this sunny morning to get my cats a bag of the kibble they prefer over other pretty good cat kibbles, I had this sorta unnerving thought: What if I took a take...some of this stuff, I don't think that it matters if I flunk a Turing Test. Or if I take one. I guess that I'll fret over maybe flunking the SAT Test, instead.... Powered by Zoundry Raven

The last one of her kind, she thought to herself as she edged along the precipice. She carried the death of her race in her and so she could not die. She could lose parts of her, even lose the life of...yet one (exceptional) individual could overcome it and make things safe for the others. Maybe that's why this is high potential--my mind is pulling at the edges of this idea to try and figure it out.
The precursor to this entry can be found here: http://latenightcoder.livejournal.com/6534.html I found an article (dated 8-29-2008) that discusses an apparently growing industry for CAPTCHA breaking...interconnectivity of the modern age allows pure software to reach ever further... ...and as an ambitious software engineer I am in a particularly good position to take advantage of that ;) -LN
