Shaken.

...day.   First off, it’s Thursday, which means my first class was at 12:30.   I love sleeping in, but I didn’t get to do that so much today.   I got up at 10 to get some extra studying in for my astronomy test.   I was really nervous about it, but grades have already been posted; I got an A!!!!   I also just checked the grade for my last biology test and I got a 91 on that.   I was sure I did...

I owe you, certainly.

...he turned out best. The koi fish turned out pretty well and they took the most work (I carved out each individiual scale). It was an awesome fun time. Just got back from lunch with Dr. E, the retiured astronomy advisor. I love him. We had a good amount to talk about and he always makes me feel better about life in general. We planned to meet up more often. I am just giddy happy with all of the good...

Somewhere

Stars aren't just stars to me. They're possibilities. They're hope, that there's more out there, more to this universe than this little rock that we inhabit. When I was younger, lying on the top of my...more. That's the hope. We may never find it in this lifetime. I wish I could catch a glimpse of what's beyond those stars. Because right now, my size hasn't changed, and I don't feel connected at all

The Ten Spot: Relax

Ten ways you relax 01. Go fishing. 02. Crossword puzzles. 03. Stargazing. 04. The Simpsons. 05. Ping-pong. 06. Beer. 07. Laugh at science fiction movies. 08. Clean my gun. 09. Don't do paperwork. 10. Stick my fingers in my ears and hum.

Sleep? what is that?

I got very little sleep last night so I think that there will be a definite catch up nap this afternoon. Rain and high winds last night. Somebody one one of my friends friends lists

Saw the last of the old moon, just before dawn today. I've only seen that once, during the Leonid Shower Star Party of '96 from Kumeyaay Place on the North end of Mount Laguna. Those few of us who staid...being first to see the young moon. After the moment of New Moon this afternoon I went out and looked at the Coordinates of where the Moon should be, but it was totally lost int he glare of the sun

The Celestia Teapot, and other wonders to astound you

Buddy, if you haven't downloaded version 1.5.0 of Celestia , you ought to.  It is like having the entire known universe on your hard drive. Since I first got Celestia last year, I've enjoyed using it...spacecraft docked there at the bottom of the image.  Something looked a little fishy about it, so I zoomed in for a closer look:   Ha!  Oh, mercy!  That's cosmonauts for ya, though.  Golly.

Spock's World Found!

Spock's father born here? Ok, probably no life as we know it at Epsilon Eridani, but it may be a good place to look for early life, and if life does not exist, to transplant some of our own. At 10%...mater) propulsion would do the trick, and we ought to be able to produce enough in a century, given enough space development. So in 200 years, humans could stand on a foetid algae encrusted shore

I was confused

As to why the moon, which goes new at 4:14 PM PDT today, sets at 5:38 PM, twenty three minutes before sunset. So pulled up Skydome and ran the heavens forward to first the moment of new moon, then sunset...more south west than the sun, and hits the horizon earlier, even though both of them are apparently running parallel in the sky at the time. And so ends the funkiest lunar month I care to remember

saturn: south pole again
