In mid-May I'm going to be somewhere around Belize or Honduras, and am going to meet up with my parents for a week. I know very little about this area, so I was hoping for some recommendations that fit the following criteria: 1) On the beach (not mine, but my step-mother's one stipulation). 2) A variety of activities (I'm more interested in experiencing the culture - archaeological sites, good food...
... They are from a combination of people and other sources. Everyone was at the airport waiting on the plane. Sabrina and Mark chartered a flight to take all their guests to Belize; it was easier than 20 something different travel arrangements. They thought they’d planned the perfect wedding, the perfect trip. So far everyone agreed. Even the two babies in the group were behaving...
After thinking long and hard about poverty, the subject of Blog Action Day 2008, I find myself with more questions than answers. First and foremost is "What IS poverty?" and secondly "Who makes that determination...household income tell the whole story? Surely, there are other factors to be considered if we, the people, are to play a part in combating the causes and effects of poverty. Read more here........
There were only days to the masked ball, and Lucy was rather busy preparing herself. She'd packed away paints and glue and brushes from her art supplies, carrying them up to the compound and settling herself...simply learn to dance before then." Yargh! They did tell us one good thing in our random college pre-Belize term: namely, that 6 months in we would discover what it was that we were actually here to do, rather than the jobs we thought we were going to! It's so true! I've just spent the last 2 weeks trying to set up a new school without a purpose-built building, with literally no resources, in a strange country with newly appointed staff...
Ugh. I can't draw right now. I'm not used to my pencil on rough, bumpy watercolour paper. Perhaps I will draw things on different paper then photocopy the linework over onto the watercolour paper. Now...to it. Further ETA: I completely forgot about this, and just remembered this morning, my grandpa lived through Hurricane Hattie...when he was out to sea. Full article here . He's Severo Castillo.
...to work with a Belgian and he was cool as the other side of the pillow. And these folks know how to eat! Belgian food is awesome. Founding member of the EU, but keeps to their own business. Belize – A little Central American country just south of old Mexico. Poor, but what country down there isn’t. Tourist haven, so watch out for thieves and murderers. Coastal areas are supposed to be...
