Day two of the Arab Dance Seminar contained still more fabulousness and energy and warmth. We started right off with an hour and a half dabke class taught by Karim, which was so, so helpful. My shins...-it was genuinely hard to get out of bed this morning, nothing in particular hurt but everything felt like lead--but if I heard of a class any of them offered this very evening, I'd be there.
how did I still have energy to dance at the concert tonight? I do not know. I suppose it helped to discover that when it said "students of Kay Hardy Campbell performing Khaleegi" on the program, that... Bedouin, hadra and zaar. This weekend will knock the stuffing out of me, what with the Mass Morgue performance at the end of it, but my heart is singing and soaring with the exhaltation of it all.
This is where I will be on Saturday, you could be too if you so desired: Pan Arab Music & Dance Concert Free! This Saturday October 25th @ 8pm. YWCA 7 Temple St. Central Square, Cambridge MA. Showcasing...Arab Dance Seminar--while I'm still sad I won't be going to Ahlan Nights in Montreal, I know that this weekend is going to be incredibly valuable and will have a profound effect on me and my dancing
I know I am. Believe me when I say it has been a hell of a week. Well, you can not believe me if you want, your choice. It's been one of those weeks I would just as soon put far behind me. It's one of...a big deal. He's going as the Grim Reaper. The first party is tomorrow night, the 2nd next Saturday. People often ask me why I'm so intrigued by Belly dancers. Answer? Because they're freakin' AWESOME! Here are three very talented ladies who illustrate the bad-assery that is belly dance: Zoe Jakes...have some latent internal connection to the Middle East and India. Ever since I was a little kid, I've been completely fascinated with those parts of the world and their culture and I have no idea why
From classes, to workshops to shows, in my experiences, belly dance has always attracted weirdoes. This strange correlation between the two makes me wonder what it is about belly dance that attracts... ugly material. And I'm not done with this craziness. I simply don't have time at the moment to talk about my numerous experiences. But don't worry, some more is coming your way. :) -Yakootah
Tonight is the last run of the Halloween Show "Scenes From a Graveyard". I'm very impressed with the creativity displayed in this year's show. The choreographers have gone all over the map, fusing everything...:) Here's a snapshot someone took at last night's show. The red demonic eyes were just natrual, no special effects. If you want to see the show tonight, please see the flyer below.
Alright, so I didn't have one personally, but in one of my recent entries I was bemoaning the fact that there is this kind of music that I've been looking for to dance to and I finally figured out what... it's traditional gypsy music, which is just awesome... Anyway, here is just a small snippet of what I've been talking about. It's just, amazing and awesome and way satisfying. *joygasm*
