I got what I thought was another Black-Crowned Night Heron, but no...it was the YELLOW-CROWNED NIGHT HERON . If that's a yellow crown the bird has, I'm the Queen of England, see you all in Windsor...FINCH (and another bird that not even Dave Pierce can id) showed me nothing but bundles of feathers: I ask you...is this any way to pose for an eager birder who's come halfway around the world
It was dusk. I was walking back from the Farmers' Market; I had a gallon of milk and several vegetables to carry, so it wasn't a great time for photography... at Delmar Station, I heard a high "cheeking"... making the noise. With one hand, I aimed the MLC and took a shot.... I really wish I could have aimed steadily enough to take a video of the hunting behaviour of the beautiful raptor
The day before I left for Yosemite, I decided to go for an evening walk, and hoped to see a Red-Tailed Hawk. I was unlucky with that, but as if to make up, on my way home I looked up... Yathin...that it's got a small bird in its talons... OK, working today on uploading the Yosemite pics, it's such a majestic place that even I have got good shots...will probably put up the post on Monday
So in the midst of everything else I picked up 2 model kits. A 1/1000 TOS Enterprise, and a 1/1000( maybe?) Klingon Bird of Prey. Just 2 small snap together kits, while I'm trying to figure out what...since it has such nice clear parts it would be a shame to paint them or leave them clear. I got some small LED's but the wiring may still be visible coming down from the base. Thoughts? opinions?
We went to visit Grant's Farm , where the home of Ulysses Grant is preserved, and there is a kind of mini-zoo, too; it's a very "fami ly" place, and since it was the first really hot day of spring,...mind...and just a couple of steps later, my question got answered: Well, at least these two magnificient birds are alive and cared for...who knows how many perished because of their injuries

Every time I visit the Bannerghatta Forest area (as distinct from the Bannerghatta Zoo/Butterfly Park area), I see so many birds; last time the raptor sighting that had me in raptors raptures was the...FLYCATCHERS, an ASIAN PARADISE FLYCATCHER, and some TICKELL'S BLUE FLYCATCHER played hide and seek with us in the mango orchard, but I could not get a photograph! Other stuff in the next post...
Our trip to Daroji was suddenly thought of and even more suddenly executed. I must thank Santosh Martin, a fellow NTP-er, for extending such warm hospitality to me; he was at the station at 6am with his... As we were leaving the forest guest house to visit Hampi, we saw a pair of BLACK-SHOULDERED KITES hovering overhead, and though the 20D was giving a lot of trouble, I managed this shot:
It rarely happens...but it's great when it does! We got off to explore the Monkey Falls (I am not joking, the area is really called that, I suppose because of the large number of bonnet macaques around...the second bird was a CHANGEABLE HAWK EAGLE! So it was very funny to have a Crested Serpent Eagle "change" into a Changeable Hawk Eagle...most unexpected bonanza of two raptors in just a few minutes
OKAY, this is not my most favourite performance of this song (and I'm picky, because it is with my name!) but it's... reasonably ok. Text link . (this is with one more verse than performed,...wife, and two young children. She: I will turn into a black plague And I will come after you again, I'll kill your wife, I'll raise your children, And I'll be forever yours.
