One new author this month out of sixteen books read and I'm trying to get caught up on my tbr stacks and stacks and stacks... Paranormal Vicki Pettersson The first 3 books in The Signs of the Zodiac...though you might count Eoin Colfer as Fantasy. Artemis Fowl The Lost Colony Fourteen year old Irish criminal mastermind, discoverer of the Fairy Kingdom, now searches for the Lost Colony of Demons
Books finished: Europa, Europa by Shlomo Perel. I've heard of the movie with that title though I've never seen it, but I was curious when I saw there was a book. This was fascinating. Perel spent... Project Runway is on tonight and tonight is also the first episode of Top Design's second season. TD's got the same judges as the first season, so this promises to be as snippy as the last one. Yay
First, let's talk about the cover of this book. I think I have to. This is the front cover of the book, which did not show up on amazon.com when I was looking at it: It's hard to tell, but it says "Perfect...I would have liked to have more of it. Still, it was funny in places and moving in others. I recommend it to fans of romantic sf, though you may want to get a brown paper wrapper for it. Three stars
"Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" by Roald Dahl (read to the children at bedtime) "Bush Falls" by Jonathan Tropper "A Bear Called Paddington" by Michael Bond (read to the children at bedtime) "I...who all the myriad characters were and what their alleigances were etc...so I was a bit confused by the end. Good stuff, though, and quite a gripping read. It would make a very good film, I think.
I finished another book awhile ago, but never got around to posting about it until today. Third ReichVictorious: Alternate Decisions of World War II , a collection of essays giving alternative outcomes...Of The Witch-King - The Spellswords Book 2 A- Servant Of The Shard - The Spellswords Book 1 B American Creation B Patton and Rommel B Third Reich Victorious B- Digital Fortress C Peter Pan

I believe...let me touch her. No scritches. No coming for her nightly cuddles on the bed. No grabbing me when I stop petting her. She is very vexed with me. Teddy continues to be enraged with life in general
Today I finished reading Face to Face by Audrey Kishline and Sheryl Maloy. Wow. What an intense book, and it really has me thinking. I love it when a book makes me want to read other books, and it's...Kasl and Sober for Good by Anne M. Fletcher. It seems to be tricky to find a balanced third-party view of AA - I was never aware of the controversies! - but perhaps something will come to light
Angels & Insects by A.S. Byatt. I seem to have got myself in one of those states where I was part way through about three books simultaneously. I always think A.S. Byatt is great - and then it all gets bogged down in Victorian poetry which I could never really be arsed with. I blame Elizabeth Barrett Browning's tedious novel in verse Aurora Leigh.
This book is advertised as "the sequel to Howl'sMoving Castle ". I find that misleading, because HMC already had a sequel, Wizards Abroad . But, I can imagine that after HMC was made into a popular...not read Jones before, I would suggest starting with The Lives of Christopher Chant or Howl's Moving Castle . I strongly recommend her work for anyone who likes Harry Potter. Three and a half stars
Book 38 for the year was Why Kosher by Irving Welfeld. This is an anthology of quotes regarding the laws of kashrut. In theory, very interesting. In practice, I wish he would have talked about the quotes...to do, it's all stuff I enjoy, and I can get it done by the deadlines. I got a promotion, and I even have a three-day weekend coming up! (We're going to see Shrek: The Musical, which I'm excited about.
