CBR has a great interview with Jeph Loeb about issue 20, It sounds like he really regrets that BtAS never got picked up. Also sounds like he's put everything he can into this issue to try and get that series back on the board! :-) I'm really looking forward to this issue.
Comics Continuum has the Dark Horse solicitations for January 2009 and BtVS S8 issue 22 is amongst them. Blurb: "BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #22 Written by Steven S. DeKnight, penciled by Georges... Ever month I swear it is her best cover ever and then the next month it's even better and this one is just exquisite. She so gets Kennedy's face and Satsu is just gorgeous! Jeanty cover:
Hellmouth Central has a great interview with Georges Jeanty about S8 . I like the feel of the interview, even if there's not much new info in there (except for the Summer Special after S8 finishes) but Georges sounds like he's really feeling comfortable in the match of art and story at last. That only bodes well for the second half of S8.
Went to my two favourite shops whilst in Perth today. From Quality Comics , I got BtVS S8 Issue 18 (Jeanty variant cover) , AtS: ATF Issue 12 (Garner variant cover) and BtVS Omnibus #5 . From Empire Toys , I got Spike ATF Issue 3 (Sharp Brothers variant cover) and AtS: ATF Vol 2 HC , but sadly no Volume 1 so I put that on order. Plenty of reading to do in the next few days! WOOHOO!
Good interview with Joss on MTV about the rest of S8 . Without spoiling anybody, it sounds like the second half of the season will rock even more than the first half. Good writers with interesting stories and great potential makes me interested any time and this is Joss too! Good times!
Both covers for this issue are in the Comics Continuum Dark Horse December solicitations , along with the blurb The blurb: "BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER #21 Written by Jane Espenson, penciled by Georges...I say that "This is the best cover ever!" after every cover. I love the Club 666 poster behind her along with a completely new species of Hellhound, I believe. Jeanty's: I like this too
Newsarama has 6 preview pages posted I really like the artwork on all of these pages - seems a lot better that the last issue. Page 1: Page 2: I think Buffy's finally getting the enormity of...5: "Like I was ridden hard and put away wet" - I love Xander's discomfort at the phrasing! Is this Dawn/Xander thing going to develop into something more, I wonder? Page 6: WHOA - Ents, on fire!
Comics continuum has the Dark Horse November solicitations where the Jeanty variant for this issue is posted I think this is probably my favourite Jeanty cover of the series so far. If the cover is at all representative of the contents, it would be great to see Dawn, Angel and Cordelia all interacting since that would be the first time all three have ever been together.
There are six preview pictures posted at Wizard Universe Page 1: Glad to see the Molin/Owens/Madsen combination is looking so good again. Page 2: Erin and Mel working together? Glad to see that... and Erin just as protective. Page 4: Page 5: The dark haired one? Woman? The Black Hope? Drusilla? Dark!Willow? Page 6: "Gates" - Hah! The Battle of Starbucks - hmmm .....
Both covers for this issue are posted at Comics Continuum in the October solicitations for October Chen cover: Dark!Willow is back? She's the big bad? Regardless of what this implies for the story...an interesting parallel with the half-and-half look of Jeanty's cover below. Jeanty variant: I love the side by side contrast, not just of Mel and Buffy but also of the skylines behind them.
