According to the Steven Novella's Neurologica blog , the Intelligent Design people (specifically the Discovery Institute ) are getting interested in neuroscience (see also part 2 ), attacking the...US Constitution. koans

...to a higher level of spiritual thinking.  Basically a question without any one real answer.  They're mainly used by Japanese Buddhists, not sure if the practice has been adopted into mainstream Buddhism.  My question is: does the question have to be religious to be counted as a koan? No, really - take for example, the classic question: what came first, the chicken or the egg?  That question...

school, and other things of like nature.

...because Kylene is being nosy. So far, this week has gone really well...even though it is only Tuesday, but I believe it is all downhill from this point. I finished up my last two midterms today.  Buddhism and Nature of Cancer.  I'd say I did pretty good on both, although I didn't study much for the latter.  It's all common sense mostly like "is nicotine addictive?" or "what's a tumor?" hahaha. ...

Diet and Mindfulness

Success, whether you are trying to maintain, gain or lose weight, depends on a number of factors. However, I believe that one of the most important factors is mindfulness . Today I wanted to talk a little...Chocolate company years ago!   Becoming mindful means we will experience greater success with dieting, weight gain, or weight maintenance programs, and greater success with all our personal goals

Dealing with Stress

Dunno why, but I always want to write most in the last couple of minutes before I have to work. Better a few lines than nothing. This past weekend was good - very intense in a number of ways, some of... not so that I fulfill some obligation, but so that I can deal with all the other things I have to do. This morning Daniel and I chanted for half an hour, and it felt fabulous. Off to bag groceries

Evolution... from a Buddhist's point of view

...of mine mentioned that in Christianity, God has created Man and every other creature on earth, and that is how humans have come into being. It has triggered my mind into thinking. How about in Buddhism? What do Buddhists believe about the origin of Man? I know for a fact that Buddhists do not accept the creationism. The Buddha is no god; he is a truly great teacher.
