Years ago when I was a struggling college student I played an home-brew game that was kind of like D&D. As good as this game was it was only good as the GM. In fact separating the GM from his home-brew...the story elements, and the rules are very consistent. My last point this is a game that rewards those that know how to game it. But doesn’t penalize those that are new to the system too much.
This weekend I was invited to “The Boy, The Bad and The Ugly”, a weekend long birthday party convention at mrboy ’s house. In one way or another I played in all of the scheduled games (I’ll talk...Kubla, looking them up in game takes WAY too long. I’m wondering if Mouseguard has it right. One system for every type of conflict, fight, Duel of Wits, chase, etc. I’m going to have to play more MG
Another great Burning Wheel game last night. We started late as two of the three players had obligations that held them up, but nevertheless had a great session. We opened with Captain Luke in a private...concrete agendas that they wanted to (and should be) fulfilling. It’s not a big deal, I’ll just keep lacing the story with extra bits that will eventually come out. As Uther said “patience is a virtue.
Just finished the Burning Wheel game. It started really late because we were waiting for a player that was supposed to show up at 8:30 but didn’t make it till two hours after that. We ended up starting...to be a Duel of Wits machine, but we’ll see. I am really loving this game, I’m having a blast running it and it seems like the players are really digging into each other their beliefs, which rocks.
Wow, that was a killer con. A few things were less than perfect but I definitely had a GREAT time. Because the easiest way for me to organize my thoughts is chronologically, I’ll step through the con in...for the con) I bumped into my friend Carl. As usual we talked shop until my eyelids started to drop and decided 3:30 AM was way past my bedtime. How wrong I would find out I was. To be continued
Since all the cool kids are doing it, here’s the game I’m running tomorrow at DDC. The Gift (A Good Omens Production) Friday 4 PM in Room 377 for 4 hours GM : Sean Nittner Type : RPG System...diplomatic pretenses and are forced to confront each other’s prejudices. The ending is completely open-ended. It is up to the players to determine a solution to The Gift, there is no predetermined outcome
The Burning Wheel was recommended to me in a discussion about party conflict. I was talking with someone about playing a game with a group of people, and how any sort of conflict within the game can escalate to a conflict between players, and ultimat
The weekend was really productive for me. I didn't go out after all, since Saturday looked sporadically rainy, plus kind of chill. Even if it might make for some good photos, it's not really the weather...new air mattress or if I'm going to end up buying the futon mattress. The air mattress is starting to show wear, since I'm not sure, but I don't think they're supposed to be used nightly for so long
Wet started back into the Burning Wheel game. Genn argued dwarf legends and defeated a drake. Luke too charge of Arthas’ armies and lead the first “real” assult on the orcs, taking advantage of the distraction...this more. Reference. I printed out the eight page GM screen that has a LOT of useful tables on it but haven’t mounted it to anything. I need to build a good GM screen that I can put those sheets on
This thread make come off a little scattered. I’m trying to combine four ingredients into a soup, and like a maimed chef with poor vision and no sense of smell, I’m probably going to butcher it. Here’s...the orcs. So, can you hack BW? Can MLWM elements be added in? Does this even need to be a represented mechanically? Right now my head is in a spin just trying to keep all these ideas in one place
