Alright. I was sitting here watching Ace of Cakes and I hear that Charm City Cakes is located in Maryland. Hmm? So, I went online and looked it up. Turned out that Charm City Cakes is only 6 miles...shop one time and see it. I told them that my original major was going to be Cake Decorating. I'm really into it. I want to do it. Bad. The only problem is that Culinary School is so expensive.

Last week was my first time assisting Diane with a wedding cake! I helped frost (which I still need improvement on), rolled out all the fondant, and helped set up at the reception site. I'm so proud... of course) on top of the cake! The bride herself was very non-zilla-ish, I'm happy to say. Diane said she was a delight to work with. I had so much fun! I can't wait until the next time I help her ..
I'm making a birthday cake for a friend, and I'd like to use some fondant for part of the design. Does anyone know where I might get some in the Sunnyvale/Mountain View/Palo Alto/Menlo Park area? I saw a place in San Jose that should have it, but I'd rather not go that far south. I also need it by Wednesday, hence I can't order it online. Thanks! *also xp to sunnyvale

Stick a fork in me.. I'm done. :P The cake turned out okay. not perfect, but oh well. A fewlessons learned, but the bottom line was that the parents LOVED it. I can't wait to see pics of little Alex...stuff. :) Well, Sal's yelling at his computer game, I'm about to fall out of my computer chair, and lunch has kicked in with a much-needed dose of triptophan. I'm gonna go pass out. have fun! :P
Finishing up a cake order today. Orange gum paste callas in a bouquet and a boutonniere with ivy. Lemon cake with buttercream and marshmallow fondant. Brush embroidery callas with leaves on the fondant (ala Alan Dunn). I will post picts when I'm finished.
I've decided to re-enroll in school for my pastry degree after I graduate from the culinary program. I will finish my externship, go to the ceremony, and then go back to school. Hopefully I will have...unless your Christopher or Charlie your not allowed to sleep in my room. Only gay guys can dearies! I'm out for the night so I will give another update soon on how much my new expenditure will cost me
About a month ago, I did my first cake as Diane's assistant, helping her make an elaborate cake for a 1st birthday party. I'm pleased to say that I was able to truly pitch in - carving cake, coloring and...feel like a true collaborator rather than a helper (though the design was Diane's). Here's the finished product: The cake was bigger than the birthday girl! (That's a 30"x30" board it's sitting on.
