The spring semester is officially over for me. Grades are done, checked, and submitted. Woo hoo! Also today, I finally got around to Visiting the payroll office to change my withholding , and Making...way, my tooth hurts." By the time the symptoms got bad enough that I could tell... or he got old enough to tell me... well, that would be like not checking the oil till the light comes on. Stupid.
The problem. Cameron is contagious and cannot go to day care. T. and I both teach from 12-2 (I also teach 2-4). The solution. I will go to school at 10am to hold office hours. T. will bring C. to me at noon and go teach his class for an hour. Then he'll meet us at my classroom at 1:00 and take C. home, and I'll start class then. At 3:00 I'll come home -- my 2:00 class is the same course as the...
... Tomorrow night we leave. The plan: ME T.
8am Pack for trip Take C. to Debbie's (God willing)
8:45-10:45 Pack Give final exam
11:00-1:00 Finish packing, come to school Proctor my 75A exam
1:00-3:00 Help graduate student get ready for her talk Grade papers
3:00-4:00 S.'s talk S.'s talk
4:00-5:45 Proofread, copy M75B final; grade papers...
Which means I'm filling in for T.'s office hours on top of everything else. Right now I'm pumping, and then I have to run and get my final exam copied before 3:30. My poor graduate student didn't get...immediately after eating the offending food, we'd be able to tell. But instead he seems to be just fine and appears to be hungry for things, and then hours later, without warning, up it comes. Sigh
Got my final written and emailed to T. this morning so he could print it out for my earlybird student (it worked out well that T. is giving a final this afternoon, so he agreed to proctor). C. slept...I got home, at least so far, and we went for a short walk in Fresno's freshest air which did him good. He's on his second nap. When he gets up I'll give him a bath and wash the puke out of his hair. :-
I have a student who is taking his final early, because he is on the University bowling team and they're going to the nationals next week. That's a new one. (He gave me an official-looking letter from...nursed plenty throughout the night. Hmmm.... No idea what caused the chunks to blow. We got the sheets changed, but T. is sleeping the rest of the night on the couch, because the bedroom smells
The good news is that one of my midterms is written. Still have to make a second version (to discourage cheating), proofread, print, and copy. But as Cameron will be in daycare tomorrow that shouldn't...out of pity for their upcoming tests; I hope my voice holds out. Boy, it sure was nice to play hooky today! I'd better not get used to it; now I'm considering skipping rehearsal tomorrow night
After Cameron went to bed and I'd emailed myself some crucial stuff for The Binder, I headed back to school at 11:30pm to finish up. But I was only there 45 minutes when T. called to say that C. was screaming and wouldn't stop. I told him to try taking him outside. 15 more minutes, and T. calls again: "I think Cameron needs to go back to the hospital." Fine , I said, I'll come home , though I knew...
It was hard to tell whether C. was feeling any better this morning, because he was still sleeping off last night when it was time to leave. His breathing seemed okay, though, so we plucked him out of...night. I know you've got your job review to do." Debbie is a softie, and we love her. Yay. And on that note, it's time to make the doughnuts, as they say. Mmmm... Doughnuts. And maybe some coffee
