dear politicians

There is bad news & good news in the local newspaper. Actually, bad news & worse news. Our dear Tory Blue Prime Minister, Stephen Harper (icicle #1) , promised that the economic meltdown in the U.S. would...I'm-all-right-Jack, Looking Out for #1 spirit of laissez-unfair capitalism does not need to be i mported here. I must invest in a rubber ducky.

Because I'm suddenly addicted to ~foam~ baths. I say "foam baths" because it sounds like a much cooler phrase than say, "bubble baths". Cant think of an equally cool substitute phrase for "rubber ducky"... cant You People™ just have a quiet, boring elections like Canada does? I'm listening to New Kids On the Block's Greatest Hits album. And am not [entirely] ashamed to admit it. Yours Truly

Why the Liberals are Doomed (or, An Offhand Rant Thrashing Politics)

Dion’s failure to get out the progressive vote last week is, in my opinion, as much of a commentary on politics as it is on Dion . The Liberals are doomed. Does anyone honestly think that Ignatieff...I am posing here will become moot. Diversions: 1. How we confuse symbols and things: Government (Paul Lutus, arachnoid.com) 2. Homer attempts to vote for Obama ( The Simpsons , youtube.com)

YAYZ!

Jon Stewart mentioned Canadian politics on the Daily Show last night. I think I actually squealed! Oh Jon! You do know who we are! :D It was a pretty funny bit on our election, too. Check it out on spike.com, they stream entire episodes. All right, I'm done fangirling. Now I have to go write!

Our Troubles Are All the Same

The Canadian federal election is over and done with, so I'm here with some post-game wrap-up... Here is the parliamentary seat count, before and after: Conservative Party = 127/143 Liberal Party ...this past weekend :)) and creating my own political outcomes, while hoping that our neighbours south of the border show more wisdom and better judgement than at least some of my compatriots..

On Proportional Representation

At the time I write this, the electoral map seems to have been drawn for the next Parliament... there are a few things still up in the air, though, to be fair. I won't harp on it, 'cause I've made this...use fractions, and ask, simply, for someone to explain to me how one NDP vote is worth 2/3 of a Liberal vote, a little over 1/2 of a Conservative vote, and around 2/5 of a Bloq vote ? WTF Canada

I have a love/hate relationship with politics. I'm currently watching these damn election results with a good deal of exasperation. I'm not surprised. Obviously this country's a lot more conservative than I ever imagined. And it's not just about the economy, either... I guess it's true what people say... A country gets the leaders it deserves.

Last Call: VOTE! | Canada's 40th General Election.

Just a last-minute reminder to the Ontario people on my F-list that we have until 9:00pm (EST) to cast our votes for today's general election. As soon as my brother returns from an evening seminar...from 10:00pm at Elections Canada , and of course, CBC will be hosting live coverage of the ballot count half-an-hour  before the polls officially close. IT'S ON LIKE TRON , BITCHES. Yours Trul

Election Day!

If anyone is still unaware of this, it's Election Day in Canada. Tune in later to your radio, TV or internet connection to get the results. Here is the lineup here in Sask in terms of popularity: Liberal...gov't. Everyone I know here would like to oust them from the local and/or national office.) Greens bringing up the rear. (But they're showing up in the polls and seem to be growing.) Must go vote
