Cemetery pics, Cape Cod, part three.

Okay, now these are my favorites. This cemetery was fantastic. It was the Old Town Cemetery, which was in Sandwich (which claims it is the oldest town in New England), and it was on a hillside next to...design, of course) Two more wonderful old stones: And one last unusual stone--these gravestones were usually done for people who were important in some way:

Cemetery pics, Cape Cod, part two.

Again, these are not my favorite pics. Taken at Orleans Cemetery. We went on a tour of the cemetery, but it turned out to be a gossip session, and I'd rather hear about the cemetery itself. The woman...done. The scrolling design behind the name on this one was amazing: And another unusual monument. The picture sucks, but at least you can see what I'm talking about.

Cape Cod cemetery pics, part one.

So while we were on our honeymoon, I told Husband that we had to visit some graveyards. He was a bit appalled at first, which bewildered me, but when we visited the first one he actually seemed to get...building. I love looking at the lichens that grow on gravestones. And this gravestone was a bit unusual, though I found similar examples in some of the other cemeteries:

dolphinish

I was in a really shitty mood yesterday and the best way to deal with that was to get out and to go to an exhibition at the Sandwich Glass Museum . Ostensibly I was going to go see a collection from...and primitive tech in one object. It is a bit fusty as far as museums go. Still, a lot of inspiration and I'd like to go back some day when there aren't two bus tours at the same time.

drunkencarousal

i've feel the fuel like a thorn cuts in deep

i don't know whether its because i had been reading perfume , or leaving connecticut and coming back at just the right time gave me a heightened perception of things. when we arrived home friday evening...in all their complexity and still find it extraordinary. take what's going on inside and splatter it on the walls - nobody ever have really understands it anyway. but at least they feel something

Cross-Mass Day 8: Orleans to Provincetown

Today's route : 33 miles, 1300 ft. of climbing The last day.  Another easy one.  Less than 35 miles into Provincetown.  We started by eating at Nonny's in Orleans.  This is a local breakfast place that...all of it, and not just have it fly by your car window.  The vacation was great, but it's also great to be back home and great to not have a 65 mile ride in store for me tomorrow. Cross-Mass Day 7: Falmouth to Orleans

Today's route : 51 miles, 1400 ft. of climbing. It was nice to sleep in today.  Well, relatively speaking anyhow: 8:30am is better than 5.  We ate at Betsy's Diner (motto: "Eat Heavy") and headed off...here sometime late next year.  We stayed with them there (the last renters of the season will come in tomorrow).  They cooked us some pasta, and we hung out with them for a while. smandypants

It's been a good week.  Last Thursday, one of my old roommates flew into Boston from Montana, and we went down to the Cape with one of our other roommates who also lives in the area.  I hadn't realized...I hear something new about her, I get more disgusted.  Also, the utter bullshit that McCain and Palin are spreading around about Obama is shameful.  I can't believe they haven't been sued for slander.

Cupcake Charlie’s, Mashpee Commons

Cupcakes are normally a disappointment, but Charlie’s were quite good. We managed try 10 different flavors. The cake was moist, tender and had good flavor. The frostings were thick, fluffy...were the caramel apple and the oreo delight. I really liked that they offered vegan cupcakes also. Those earned a positive review from Archit and Mansi.   http://www.cupcakecharlies.com/

Sundae School, Dennisport

I saw a recently segment on Sundae School on the travel channel, and the homemade ice cream looked great. We met up with Mj and Brian, who were also down on the Cape for the week, and tried it...use “fresh cherries, when in season.” Come on, people, would having a jar of maraschinos kill you?!   http://www.sundaeschoolicecream.com/   381 Lower County Rd.
