I've been spreading my idea of becoming a carpenter around. The response was pretty good. Even my mom was quite supportive. I got two (at least) comments that I just wanted to handle wood all day. A few...it. "The Littlest Carpenter" was a name that came up. I was starting to feel better today. Maybe it was just the coffee. We'll see what the results are tomorrow. I'm tired... I'm going to bed..
You know, I'm getting tired of this. The place where I'm temping is interested in hiring me. I told the temp agency before I agreed to work the gig what my salary requirements would be should this...fair market price for the position. I'm not even angry at the interested company. I'm annoyed at the agency because they knew going into it what kind of salary I'd expect. Honestly, it's insulting.
Parliament needs Francophone translators, editors, stenographers et cetera. Needs them BADLY. If you are seriously looking for a change in careers, are willing to go back to school if you don't already have the qualifications, and have a STRONG background in French, look into translation and whatnot. Lots of folks do it from home, or work really flexible hours. Seriously.
...in his life, and he's still made time for his art throughout it all. I want to be like him in that sense. Colin and I were out to dinner for his birthday, and we got into a conversation about my career. I've been thinking about opening my store for a while. The trouble is, I don't know exactly what I want the store to be, and I don't want to dive into it all by myself. Chris is not the best person...
These photos are from the neighborhood/business park where I worked when I was doing contracts. Soon (keep fingers crossed), facilities will be moving me into our new proposal center in the building across...to go out walking every day at lunch. I don't do that in my current location as there are no sidewalks and the traffic is very heavy.
... "Find a job that you like and you will never work a day in your life," he added. Once again, thank you Al Golin. I'll always remember the tips that he gave when I asked him about starting a PR career: 1. Be professional 2. Be curious/current 3. Be a good listener P.S: I suddenly remembered that colleague sang a song that I kind of like when I was about to pray after my course at that one branch...
...kind of work), the last person in the job made 12K to 17K less than what I'm asking. Basically, they want a coordinator to do a senior specialist's/associate director's job, and at this stage in my career, I'm not going to do the work of a senior staffer for a salary I made eight years ago, nor could I take the three-step cut in title. Unfortunate, because they really need someone like me in there...
...the fact that I'll most likely slip back into my little shell and dissapear into the masses of people at Uni, I've been ready to go for a while now and I can't let my self-esteem issues affect my careerdreams. I'll admit it, I'm scared of going and not being brave enough to even say hi to anyone and having to sit in every lecture hall feeling like everyone else all know each other =) (You'd...
So today was the village Gala and I had a stall selling my purdy pictures. I put a lot of work into making sure I had enough stuff to sell and let my homeworkslip a fair bit. But I figured if I was going..... I think. Oooh. This made me laugh. http://honeysyn.net/comic.php?p=53 Now I think about it, all 10 of the business cards I printed off were taken by people. That might mean commissions. Nice.
