Being in Barnes and Noble the other day, I saw some sequels to the series' I follow. The ones I need to get from the library are, Brisingr, Christopher Paolini. Artemis Fowl: The Time Paradox...Allan Poe. Frankenstein, Mary Shelley. Dracula, Bram Stoker. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Washington Irving. The Meloncholy Death of Oyster Boy and Other Stories, Tim Burton.
paranormal romance, erotica, anthology I think a big part of my disappointment with this short story collection is that I was expectingurban fantasy but most of the stories turned out to be paranormal... I like reading anthologies to find new authors. In this case, three stories I liked the best were all written by authors I already like very much. The only new author I picked up is Keri Arthur.
I don't have time now to talk about all of them, but I've finished two books this week, so I'm wanting to talk about some of them before I get a list of like 10 to talk about. I'm still a bit behind where...characters throughout. Koen's writing is good enough to give another chance. I might try and pick up the prequel to see if there's anything I missed. I'll be back with more books read sometime soon
I wrote a blog entry back when I read Kitty Takes a Holiday about my fascination with how Carrie Vaughn used the "skinwalkers" mythology from Navajo culture in the novel. She's very kindly continued... they have to seem real, and I think that means staying true to the roots. Which is okay, because like I said--those "true" stories are pretty much creepier than anything I could come up with
Hello, my name is Kathryn, and I am a bloggoholic. I have been clean for the past hour now, but that's mostly because I got busy at work. I have this obsession with reading authorblogs. And let me tell...I can spend way too much time on the Never-Ending Book Quiz, reviewingbooks, meet others with similar reading interests and searching for new books to read. I am a bibliophile and proud of it!
Please Do Feed the Cat - Marian Babson. Bah. This overly-cutesy mystery was annoying as hell. First of all, the premise of the series (of which this book is number who-knows-what) was just too precious...about breeding & champions & stuff was really tiresome & stupid. I was amused to find that an animal communicator figures in the story, & her insights are actually crucial to wrapping up the mystery
