Get your judgement out of the way off the bat: i made Hamburger Helper today. i got out of bed and made a special trip to the grocery store to get it. judge away! but i had $8 to my name [after foolishly...a double on saturday. im working the next week straight, which means in two weeks i get a paycheck for double what i normally make. :D I love money. watch me, i'll be sporting some bling in no time
I had way too much to write last night to mention how the movie was! It was actually better than I had expected; the theater was beautiful, and the movie was not bad at all, though it did drag a bit...as for all of my devoted readers that have the SciFi channel, there's a Doctor Who marathon tomorrow from 7 to 4! Watch it! I know I will! Ha. I said short post. I should have known...
Ok. I got stuck at work through lunch today. We don't have a microwave here, and all I have is a monster can of 1-minute oatmeal and coffee. Yeah, you guessed it.... I had oatmeal coffee for lunch. It's kind of like brown sugar oatmeal.. with the tannins from the coffee and all. It works. I'm full and wide awake. And it's a dirt cheap lunch if you boss provides the coffee. Nuff said.
Cooking is a lost art for so many people, especially if two adults out of two in the family work. No one wants to come home and spend another hour doing more work. Especially when it involves making...homestyle cooking. If we cut back on our most expensive indulgences (right now, they are soda, meat, cheese and eggs) we could probably save at least another $100 a month. But we eat like kings.
So I have been thinking about the Cheap Food category on RGL. At the moment, it says "Places to eat if you're feeling a bit skint. As a vague guideline, I'd suggest we put places here if you can get...eat out much, as I often worry that RGL is too focused on people like my three-income no-dependents family, and those of you who have to think carefully about going out for a meal are feeling left out
Hellooooooooo Everyone, Doing fairly well these days. After my Sister & Mom invited me to a symbolic Thanksgiving dinner a few days after actual Thanksgiving, I feel a lot better about family-related...it passes, I could potentially be able to do some research, at least online. So, with things improving little bit by little bit, hope slowly increases as well. Next year should be a better year.
This is so far the cheapest food I have found in the US. We buy it at publix supermarket @ 7 packets for a dollar. It makes a good breakfast and available in variety of flavors. Also Top Ramen is cheap - 6 packets for a dollar. But it is not as good and tasty as in India.
Yeah, so. My sister mailed me a bunch of coupons for Arby's, so I used one today. 6 Roastbeef Sandwhiches for 99 cents each. Altogether: $6.49. AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWRIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT. And then the guy at the..." And I said no. But after I left, I thought "So, wait wait wait. I can use a coupon at Arby's, then bring it back and use the same coupon again? And get more cheap food?" ... I love you, Arby's
