Reading the passages in “A Prayer for Children” that I mentioned in my previous journal entry reminded me of something I’d recently read in Andrew Vachss’ book “Choice of Evil.”   That definitely...   But I think it’s the perceived feeling of loneliness that gets to me most of all. The loneliness, and their feeling of being unloved.   That is what I find really heartbreaking . . .

Senator Syvret has named the very senior civil servant in the education department who is under investigation for child abuse, but not suspended. In an old but extremely valuable feature of many english...of children from schools until action was taken to protect the children. But this is Jersey, and as they say in journalism, if you want to get to the bottom of a story follow the money.....

Child abuse prevention is something that's been very important to me, for a really long time, and in the early 90s I spent about five years volunteering as a court appointed special advocate for abused...to be a "guardian ad litem" for abused and neglected children, read the book "I Speak for this Child: True Stories of a Child Advocate" by Gay Courter.  It's incredibly moving and inspirational.

Read this morning in USA Today : A former lieutenant to Martin Luther King Jr. was sentenced in Leesburg, Va., to 15 years in prison for having sex in the early 1990s with his then-teenage daughter...was recently diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and has less than six months to live.  Prosecutor Gig Lawrence was unmoved.  "Everyone dies," Lawless said.  "This defendant should die in jail."

Here is another poem/story/whatever that I wrote last night.  I think it's sad, but I guess it could really happen.  Anyway, here it is.  Enjoy. Who in their right mind would do something like that?!!? What do those parents think about when they make that decision??
