...Heracles , by Jeanette Winterson Your first parent was a star. I love Winterson, I really do. Her retelling of Atlas' story is very... her. Atlas is a thinker - boundaries, desire - and Heracles is a jock, thoughtless at best. This was one of the last memorable books to me in the past, and for the life of me I can't figure out why. Re-reading this, I absolutely loved it. I loved the delving into Cetagandan culture, Miles playing pawn-turned-detective, and I especially loved Ivan in this book. 4/5

It was one of those "realistically granted wishes" things-- like I think at one point she wished for a bicycle and ended up winning it as a prize in some kind of toy store competition. Also, there was a part where it mentioned that she looked at the Queen's face and the Queen seemed to be smiling at her.

...rediscovering his humanity, I love the plotline of trying to figure out what you're doing while you're doing it. I especially love the bees and the honey. I am very glad I had a bottle of farmers' market honey with me as I was reading, otherwise I would have had horrible cravings.
