25-32: Too much rereads after this

...Heracles , by Jeanette Winterson Your first parent was a star. I love Winterson, I really do. Her retelling of Atlas' story is very... her. Atlas is a thinker - boundaries, desire - and Heracles is a jock, thoughtless at best. But the best part isn't even the myth, it's the non-mythical sections where Winterson explains the story she tells (the story she always tells) as it related to her. Perhaps...

... (Science Fiction, 352 pages) Continuing my re-read of Bujold's Vorkosigan series. I really do like Miles-the-detective. This was one of the last memorable books to me in the past, and for the life of me I can't figure out why. Re-reading this, I absolutely loved it. I loved the delving into Cetagandan culture, Miles playing pawn-turned-detective, and I especially loved Ivan in this book. 4/5

Colombian children's book

This is probably much too long a shot, but I have to give it a try because it's keeping me from sleeping at nights... I'm searching for a children's book. It was published in Colombia (and, presumably, in some other South American countries) in the late 80s, early 90s, probably by one of the big publishing houses, such as Norma or Alfaguara, and it was illustrated by Olga Cuéllar (you can see samples...

I'm beginning to wonder if i dreamt this book up but here goes... It was either a picture book or a children's book i saw in passing about a black man caring for a young boy he found one day. either the man or the boy or both are homeless and it chronicles their day to day life. I think perhaps the boy was a minority also, either latino or asian. Again, i've been looking for this book for a while...

[Review] Kensuke's Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo

...suddenly and I was thrown sideways. I had no time to grab the guard-rail. I was in the cold of the sea before I could even open my mouth to scream. Washed up on an island in the Pacific, Michael struggles to survive on his own. He can't find food, he can't find water. In the end, he curls up to die. When he wakes, there is a plate beside him of fish, of fruit and a bowl of fresh water. He is...

Little British girl with a magical wishing coin

...one wish for each of the six sides, and she rubbed the sides of the coin when she wishes. It was one of those "realistically granted wishes" things-- like I think at one point she wished for a bicycle and ended up winning it as a prize in some kind of toy store competition. Also, there was a part where it mentioned that she looked at the Queen's face and the Queen seemed to be smiling at her.

McKinley, Robin - Chalice

...rediscovering his humanity, I love the plotline of trying to figure out what you're doing while you're doing it. I especially love the bees and the honey. I am very glad I had a bottle of farmers' market honey with me as I was reading, otherwise I would have had horrible cravings.
