I had occasion to post the following on MySpace this morning, and am copying it here in case it has application to friends here as well. I'm sad and chastened to receive this message...with the consequences. This will give me pause in the future, however! The Golden Rule of 'Do as you would be done by' applies to all of us, whatever our spiritual preferences, and I was remiss
Read this article: PRAYING TO THE GOLDEN BULL Now from my point of view, this is just ASKING for a WHOLE WORLD of trouble, wouldn't you say? I wish more Christians had SOME sort of education in about their own religion!
Facing hard economic times, a group of Christians converged on Wall Street, to pray for a better economy. The problem here is the choosing to pray before a giant statue of a golden bull: What happened...day about three thousand of the people died." (Exodus 32:27-28) The Christian god ain't down with praying to golden bulls in hard times, man. You'd think Christians would know that sort of thing
Last night in class, we read an article on the origins of Christianity and anti-semitism. The article was mostly an historical overview of theories. None of the people surveyed denied the connection of self-proclaiming Christians and anti-semitic persons. Indeed, to do so would be ridiculous. Perhaps Nazis were not Christian, but many of them thought themselves to be. The legal anti-semitism in our...
Apparently some Christians on Wall Street have done publicly what a lot of people have been doing privately and are praying for God to save the economy. However, they're going about it a bit weirdly....ways to pray and things to pray for? Would such a public display (ignoring the Biblical connotations of laying hands on a large metal bull) be inappropriate or a reasonable display of passionate faith
"It is evil to describe a child as a Muslim child or a Christian child. I think labelling children is child abuse and I think there is a very heavy issue, for example, about teaching about hell and torturing...young child, about hell when he dies, as it's as bad as many forms of physical abuse." There is no part of us which God is reluctant to look at. He is not embarrassed by us. There are bits of us that look - and are - deathly, but God is in the resurrection business. God is the only person...were you so wicked, but 'why did you spend so much time making yourself (and others) unhappy?' One of the less noticed consequences of the Incarnation is that God knows what it feels like to be me.

... Yes. The X-Files. Go, shoo. I need to think up who to summon next." ***** My formal spiritual practice is pretty minimal at this time in my life. As you might imagine, my particular brand of Christianity is about as far from orthodoxy as you can get. I am supposed to be practicing non-attachment (!), kindness to all living beings, paying attention, staying in the present moment. The miracle...
