We're back at the hotel. There's no fridge in either of our rooms so our celebratory BlueMoons are being served over ice from the ice machine. In plastic cups. Why are you looking at me like that? Stop judging me!
Our access runs out in 15 minutes. We aren't "done" by any means but we have enough of the coreinfrastructure configured that we can go home tomorrow and do the follow-up work from remote. I, for one...than ready to go home after seven straight days like this. All that's left to do is pack up the truck, go back to the hotel, sleep, pack our clothes tomorrow after we get up and then we hit the road
There's nothing quite like an electrical brown-out when you're in the colocation facility at 2220 hours to add a sense of excitement to your day. And to see how well your new facility provider has trained their staff for emergencies like this. Fourteen hour day today.
Yesterday was 12.5 hours in the new datacenter, today was 13.3 hours. On the plus side we got BGP running, networks routing, the VPN established and the IP phones working - all courtesy of a box that's...the stuff of "Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares." For this morning, I present G/B/D... Good: The continental breakfast at the hotel we're in has a make-your-own waffle maker. They are tasty and this concept is badass. Bad: I lacerated the back of my skull when I was shaving this morning. Ow, dammit. Different: Having Tia from housekeeping knock on my room's door when I'm in the bathroom. Errrr...
...safe and sound, minus his luggage, but quickly retrieved them this morning (Thank God because I think my gifts were in there). I opted for a quiet pajama night at home versus the 2 hour ride to Cleveland to see his show. I feel bad but all that lifting of tables and folding clothes and dealing with people and the heat took a hard toll. He's playing a big gig tonight at the Beachland Ballroom...
...have matching bruises after that show. Also, some creepy old guy came up to my friends and I after the concert when we were waiting for the band on some creepy roadbehind the theater (what road in Cleveland isn't creepy at night...) and was like, were you at their last show? You look so familiar. And I was like, I've never even heard of this band. (Back the fuck off buddy). So now I am trying...
Apparentlycongresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones (one of my representatives in congress, when I lived back in Cleveland) is in the hospital in critical condition . I have a lot of respect for her, especially after seeing her hold her own in this interview .
