I think this was requested by still_infinity  , and it is one of my favorite recipes to make.  It is taken from The Kitchen Survival Guide by Lora Brody. Ingredients: 3 tablespoons butter...it) and stir until combined, taking care not to overbeat, which will make the bread tough and chewy. Pour into the prepared pan and bake for 20 to 25 minutes.  The top will be golden brown.  Serve warm.

Cornbread Unlike Any Other I think the reduction in sugar is permanent. It’s sweet enough with just one tablespoon. I added two chopped pickled jalapeños, but it could easily handle more.

Ingredients 1 1/4 cups flour  3/4 cup yellow cornmeal 1/4 cup sugar 4 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon salt 1 egg, slightly beaten (or substitute... Add the egg, milk and melted butter. Stir until just moistened. Place batter in a 2 quart greased can. Place can on rack or trivet in bottom of crock pot. Cover; cook on high for 2-3 hours.
