All done! FINALLY... Binding the tabs was an experience I wouldn't care to repeat. Wasn't loving the sparkly clips, so went a-digging in my bauble sewing box and found these huge belt buckle... but perfect for a corset! Still not sure if I'll keep them, or replace them later with something else. Kind of liking how it turned out, very 1990s Karl Lagerfeld Chanel.. So happy they're done. Yay

The last 5 days have been fantastic, and if not a little out of the ordinary... Nick stayed over from Friday afternoon to Wednesday morning, and it was wonderful having him "lodge" here for that time... I'm buying my first corset this weekend, and I'm stuck on which one to get. I borrowed a corset for Halloween. It is orange silk with gold trim and kind of Chinese in pattern with green & blue peonies on it. It is one I loved when I saw it in June but it was too small. In June...and a black satin ruffle bra. The corset is a full one but I don't want my boobs to fly out, a very legitimate concern in this outfit. BOOBS! Pictures by Sunday. Fully boned the stays, hand tacked all the seam allowances down inside, rather crummily. Hope to cover with bias tape, but I'm not going to expend a lot of effort there unless they start looking really fancy. Fit pretty well! Look better than I thought they would. Tomorrow will do the black satin bias tape, grommets and bows. Maybe some hand finishing on the inside, then done!

...of fake stomacher look. Which is mixing several centuries of costume history, I know, but this isn't period accurate in any respect. It's a jigsaw puzzle that I'm toying with to see what I can make out of it. Think it might be fun to wear out and about with jeans. Again, very "Labyrinth" or Sleeping Beauty.. laugh. Why do all my corsets lately end up in that direction? Oh well. Back to boning.

Sooo I made a sample corset off of my corset pattern. Wanted to make sure it matched up after I re-did the back piece. It did. It's almost done-- need to finish boning one half, add bias edging and lace...it hastily laced over my crooked hips. Back to work. The corset awaits.. Had forgotten what a bitch those curved side seams are. Good thing they look so lovely otherwise I'd chuck it out the window
