I just finished one of the best books I've read in the last 10 years. It's called Little Brother by Cory Doctorow . I would've enjoyed the book on its face, but it's underlying themes...easy to understandexamples - and that's key to appreciating how these technologies can be used for either good or bad. Around the time Cory Doctorow's new book, Little Brother , came out, he moved to London and had a new baby. I'd read Little Brother - his up-to-the-minute, San Francisco-based riff on Orwell's 1984 - in... terrorists, surveillance, and his book. So I went to 3PiCon. This was my first scifi con ever. I think I mostly went to meet some people. I was really excited about meeting Corey Doctorow and Randall "XKCD" Munroe. Plus the whole Pi thing I...out there cameras and were going to take a picture of my car. I jumped in and said "Oh! That's my car" They asked me to stand in front of it for the picture. Then I took one in return.

Alright already, I’m late to the party, review-wise. Cory Doctorow’s fantabulous Little Brother has been praised to the skies by the likes of Neil Gaiman , Scott Westerfield , Jo Walton ,...I realized I needed to get through some reviews tonight…

tor.com has published cory doctorow's latest short story in its entirety here . i'm opting instead for the mp3 of him reading it. consider this part of my "currently reading" pile ( yes , i know, technically, i'm listening to it, but y'know what i mean...). the story, in both forms, is licensed under creative commons, so anyone's free to translate and remix it. - wayne ree
Cory Doctorow has this fabulous article on writing YA. It's mostly abouf SF (and since my YA is SF, I was very interested!) - but there is a lot in it to make those of us who write for teens feel pretty darn good about our path.
