The crickets still haven't shut up. ;-; In more interesting news, just got through a second chapter of A People's History of the United States . TYSM for the recommendation, brewsternorth and yunghustlaz - this book is awesome (if somewhat bile-aggravating and depressing). Definitely going to buy a real copy.
"Is America in any continuity with its original self-understanding as a society governed with the consent of its members, as a democratic republic, still possible in the face of the realities of the late...was what drove us in this direction. He saw us as, of all peoples in the world, the ones most concerned with material comfort and economic advancement." -Robert Bellah, UC Santa Barbara lecture, 198
Weird thing that happened this week #?? (there's been a few) This afternoon I decided to watch Cabaret (always going to be my favourite musical C: ). Fun time had by all. A couple of hours ago I turned...on the Windows box, flicked from AV 5 to AV 3, and guess what was playing when I passed through regular TV? Spooky. :O Also, I wish this cold would die already. *gets another Lemsip & heads off to bed* :

It's actually not true that our literary culture is nihilistic, at least not in the radical sense of Turgenev's Bazarov. For there are certain tendencies we believe are bad, qualities we hate and fear. Among these are sentimentality, naïveté...

I really don't mind Korean Pop music, but my music tastes in general are way more rock. While I'm enjoying learning culture and language through music, I really crave more rock. Can anyone recommend a Korean Rock band?? I know about Bulldog Mansion but that's about it....
