I'm reading the Bible right now. Two, actually. I'm looking at a few specific chapters/verses and comparing the translation between the two Bibles I have. Seriously.
I’m staying in today! Snuggling with some good books. I’m reading a Tiptree book now, but I wanna get back to Fast Ships, Black Sails , the pirate antho edited by Ann and Jeff Vandermeer. (That book...nomination…
But really I am just enjoying the book too much to stay away for long. I’m about a third of the way through now, and I’ll give a full review as soon as I can.

This afternoon I created this new lj account. I could explain all the reasons for doing this, but I'll give you the best one: I am transforming. From this moment on, I am going to let out the parts of...Creek season 2 finale when she got back, but I'm not going to feel guilty for choosing sleep overtelevision. ALSO: I will probably keep this an open journal. Comments are always welcome.
My my my. Updates seem to be sporadic these days, don't they? I'll admit I've not the been the greatest moderator ever; this is something I hope to change. I love this group. So so so. Where to begin...novels. However, this one would have gone a long in helping me appreciate "older" literature a lot sooner (and would have opened up a lot more venues earlier). And that's it for now. Thanks everyone
*** i tried to write a proper review for 'high fidelity', but my brain is being a fart today, so we'll make this brief: liked the movie well enough when i first saw it, but didn't fall in love with...that reads more like the lead character's talking to you, rather than telling you a story). will certainly check out more of his stuff, but not any timesoon. *** and now, i zone out. - wayne ree
(yes, complete with movie tie-in cover. hey, for two bucks, you think i'm gonna quibble over packaging?) *** 'zeitgeist' somehow manages to walk the line between a solid, linear story - and an almost...solely on my enjoyment of 'the zenith angle' . but i would rank this book with gibson's later two 'sprawl' novels: enjoyable for their style, but not really for their substance. - wayne ree
(hells yeah, i managed to find another bruce sterlingbook sneakily tucked away in kinokuniya!) *** i am half-awake and some evil alien virus seems to be gestating in my throat, so i'll make this... nevertheless, it ended well; not nearly as kick-ass-and-take-no-names as its start, but still pretty enjoyable. oh, and i so totally want a bad motherfucking gun called reason. - wayne ree
*** the thing about the 'artemis fowl' series is that there aren't any bad books in it. if you dug the first one, every subsequent installment delivers just as solidly, only with less of the shiny...any more; what does is that i get to go on another adventure with these familiar charactersyet again, characters that i've grown to really like with each passing addition to the series. - wayne ree
*** forgive the hyperbole, but '2001: a space odyssey' is more than just a great book; it's a humbling experience. in lots of sci-fi, there's space travel, but rarely do you understand just how epic...so much wonder out there. yeah, that does sound overly hokey of me, i know. but that's the kind of effect this book has on you. from start to finish, '2001...' is just a marvelous read. - wayne ree
tor.com has published cory doctorow's latest short story in its entirety here . i'm opting instead for the mp3 of him reading it. consider this part of my "currently reading" pile ( yes , i know, technically, i'm listening to it, but y'know what i mean...). the story, in both forms, is licensed under creative commons, so anyone's free to translate and remix it. - wayne ree
