I'm getting seriously pissed off with getting to and from work. I know psychologically that I'm still scared of skidding but it seems that every train I attempt to catch is late or cancelled. I had a run...the train. I couldn't move becasue there was nowhere to move to and this bloke starts clambering over my Brompton. wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't been carrying it. AARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHhhhh
Whilst I've been busy retagging news of the weird posts I've been re-reading older posts that I wanted to refresh my memory of. In the comments thread to a 5 questions meme , vegetus wistfully... 35" minimum x-seam of the Trice Q & T is shorter than Greenspeed manage for the small-frame GTs... Also, the prices for a Trice look a lot cheaper when you're already being paid in sterling. :)
OK, not really a cycling post, more a driving post. I haven't ridden my bike in ages. My commute isn't cyclable, and my schedule sometimes doesn't jive with the Metro, so I've been driving more. This has coincided with my seeing more and more cyclists out and about. That would--and does-- make me happy. I envy the guy who can ride to work/school every day. But please, guys, stay safe out there...
...better in touch. Really, the families we met during the 7 years total that our kids were in daycare there are still some of the nicest ever-- our local school was kind of a jolt by comparison! Cycling: Yesterday, a family was coming the other way on the bike path and I wondered if the chubby person at the rear with the bike trailer was a kid, as it appeared. In fact, yes-- it was an 11- or...
My knee has over the course of the past week or so spontaneously injured itself . What began as a slight twinge in my left knee has magnified itself to the point where I can barely ride. Standing on...stopped in my tracks after just getting started with a serious training regimen is unutterably frustrating, especially not knowing when I'll be able to get moving again. This really fucking sucks.
This morning as I was walking from the bike shed to the main building, someone started chatting to me about cycling, saying that I must be brave to cycle when it's so cold. It always amuses me how people who don't cycle assume that days like today, when there was a frost on the cars, must be horrible to cycle in. This morning was glorious! The sun was shining, the dew was evaporating in little whispy...
'BentRider Online is reporting that a new record (50.389Km) has been set by Gert Jan Wijers for the hour . And this year seems to be the year for Australian Velomobiles - the latest offering is Trisled's Avatar which looks just wonderful.
Yay! I'm famous! Sorta... Treehugger, the environmental blog, have used a phone-snap of my excellent helmet hair the other summer as an illustration for a piece on the evils of helmet hair . Irony: ...the weird bike tribe down while not having to do anything. The real reason people don't bike is inertia. But "I can't be arsed to investigate the possibilities" doesn't come up often on forms.
Well thats a first. I didn't sleep well last night, woke up early, and decided to go on the weekly Saturday ATC ride. Made it down there early, it was coldish and I had my Tri-Force winter cycling jacket on. Memo to self, layers, layers, layers. The Cycling jacket is great when its actually cold. When you end-up cycling in 74f it's not cold and the jacket is too big to do anything with, except wear...
It is impossible to follow any cycling website or blog without the Great Debate on Helmets popping up sooner or later. Usually several times and it is best to wear an asbestos suit whenever it happens. :) Having said that, the latest incarnation on EcoVelo is quite civilised, well worth reading, and has referenced a fascinating post on the How We Drive blog. The article is highly recommended but...
