My mom got here tonight. Her luggage got lost and we went over some paint samples, but I'll save those compelling stories for another time. We didn't end up getting home from the airport until after midnight...yet and I have to be at my brother's to watch Jackson in 2 hours. Thankfully my mother will be there so I won't accidentally fall asleep while rocking Jackson and crush him under my girth.
Today was one of the worst days I've had in possibly years, I'd say. and that is saying a lot. And I think it's pretty much all my fault, but so it goes. I'm happy to be home with my family right now...on serving midnight buffet and when we'd dock into Bermuda... so I am glad I stayed behind. Watching baseball. Wondering if I should greet my parents with a big foghorn when they return.
Saturday night I broke up with Craig over the phone while I was at work. It just felt like it was time. I was sick of him always talking about sex, and I know that's how the male brain works, but I demand...was and that he was capable of showing emotion too. As for Brad, I've barely heard from him all day. He needs a mother, not a girlfriend. I am excited to begin my new life. I am happy with my gunman
My first trip there is blurring with my second...I'll try to write two separate and coherent posts. Wednesday I took the CTA downtown and to Chinatown. Very similar to before, and I went to St. Alps yet...off Ave. O. Locking it to a sign for a bike trail seemed safe. Terribly long trip home, of course, but I just couldn't bike any more and I knew I wanted to come back for more Indiana the next day...
I got a late start yesterday and wasn't sure about the weather, but I just HAD to get out after missing Monday. My bike was still at Sedgwick so I took the bus there, then took it downtown. I realized...on L. From Randolph/Wabash to Clark to Archer to Wentworth. Bike on L. 95 to Constance/Van Vlissengen. VV to 102 to Torrence. Torrence to 116 to about 131. 130 to Carondolet. CTA home. About 12 miles
Sunday morning I got out of the house too slowly. Stayed up too late Fri. and Sat. even though I didn't go out either night. I needed to get to Millennium Station to catch the 10 am South Shore to Gary...taking up two seats and poking people with the protruding tripod. I locked my bike at the Sedgwick station, bought the Sunday papers, and took the bus home, intending to bike back home today. Ooops..
I was afraid I'd get rained on--but it was sunny. Neither wind nor cold were as bad as I feared. I did a bunch of things via CTA--going downtown then getting the Archer bus to Chinatown because I thought...since the store's on the same side of the street as me. Oh, just remembered the other item I mean to look for--another bike lock, so I can have both wheels locked at all times. Total: 13 miles.
It rained a little, but was sunny, if a little windy, for the few hours I went out today. I checked on a building I'd noticed from the bus on my trips to Westinghouse, and some places around Augusta &... but I have a damn good excuse--I've finally encountered someone, online, who WENT there. Since he invited me to look at a WCA Facebook group, that's why I started up there again. About ten miles today.
...recognize some of the diner expressions they list on the back of the dessert menu like B and B (bread and butter), boiled leaves (Tea) and a C.J. White (cream cheese and jelly on white toast). I found these lists fun so now I share them. http://www.jitterbuzz.com/diners.html http://gwally.com/directions/000440.php This one has a link to a PDF file with the list of Diner lingo and CB terms.
