Been reading entries from "Accidents in North American Mountaineering", an annual publication. I'm not interested in mountaineering, but I am interested in better understanding disasters and how we react...the standard route, over at least two cliff bands, coming to rest on the scree... he did not survive." The message is very clear; even very experienced climbers with good plans can make fatal mistakes
Today, Jen and I went back to our house to survey the damage. The disaster recovery specialists are still conducting drying operations for the floor before they have to go into the walls to conduct further drying operations. Currently, the laminate floor is completely ruined and warped. The entire bottom half of our new kitchen cabinetry is also destroyed and will require replacement. We also have...
because Hope and his buddy (aka dancefloor.disast3r) wanted my timeslot. and because the other girls were intimidated by the Big Bad Tri-Atom machine, and because natalia is a sucker for that stupid...easily they've been dismissing my wishes. i feel strangely apathetic. i kinda had a feeling this would happen. and i'm so used to not having friends that i feel like it's just back to business as usual

Oh well, we now have a new door and doorknob
In the greatest belatedly discovered tragedy ever, I am missing all the photos from 10/12 - 10/20. This including the period where I wandered SE Turkey, COMPLETELY ON MY OWN, encountering NO OTHER FOREIGNERS...in my life. 10/12/08-10/20/08 search results on all three drives = a grand total of 8 photos. And it took me over 8 months to realize they were missing. I am absolutely furious with myself
You'd think I'd have learned by now -- anything I really think is important, such as my NaNoWriMo, or downloads of fanfics that are no longer available ANYWHERE, or my own half-baked fics, needs to... even if just as an attachment to an e-mail? NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! *Head Desks. Repeatedly....* ETA: at least I'd posted approx. half of my NaNoWriMo to LJ already, not a total loss, but ohhhhhhhh....
Morphine makes the mental gremlins come out and it makes you a bit emo. D: Meh. Feeling much better today. Kidney infection is clearing up. I had some crazy morphine nightmares though so I didn't sleep...kids! D: I am going to work tonight despite being ill and I am also going to attempt Open Plan, its a dubstep night and I just wanna go and take some pictures. I obviously won't be drinking
