Today I beat my domestic the hardest so far and he yellowed out just as we were coming to my planned end time. It was an exercise in both stress relief/playfulness for me and in further testing of his reactions and limitations. I've gotten a better feel of him from it. I'm getting a cold... my spouse gave it to me. One thing after another, nowadays, it seems. In theory, we're going to Six Flags...
...either A)Millie or B)one of the cats fucked up what I was doing by winding the yarn around their neck and walking off with it. Three times. No lie. So yeah. After that, it's back to the squares. On a final domestic note, my one French acquisition this holiday: And no, that's not an IKEA lampshade, it's an original one I picked up in the brocante market at Aigues-Mortes for 5 euros. So there.
Two meetings yesterday morning both went well. I'm really excited about both leading Mark Study (the freshmen Bible study), and working with international students through the conversation partners program...and because it's much smaller. So now I'm there at 8h00, and it feels very comfortable. JFC BBQ today. I'm mostly ready for classes, except that I still don't have a list of students in my StuCo..
This week, without the laundry facilities, the level of clean pants and socks became critical. In the week I bought some handwash liquid. Because I have nothing better to do on Sunday, I have just filled... emigrating has removed all of the 'life-infrastructure' of things I can expect to be able to do. Alright it isn'tthat bad, but being a bit more resouceful and self-sufficient is satisfying anyway
I've been having major urges to do some baking. The trouble is, with just the two of us, I can really only bake one item at a time and wait until we've finished it to try something new. Thankfully my...baker's chocolate, do you think that adding a few pieces of this chocolate bar would negatively affect the taste? I don't waste anything - chocolate in particular - so am trying to find a use for it.
Kidney pain began all over again. Thought I was done with it... had hoped the backache that started Sunday was just from yardwork I'd done Sunday. Monday with the domestic I fiddled in the yard despite it, hoping that just working lightly would let it fade. Later that night it became very recognizable kidney pain and it's been with me today more. I'm back on meds and taking care of me, hoping to...
Well, I almost forgot to do my pushups today, but I remembered as I was climbing into bed. I did 31 pushups today... I'm sure I will be feeling it tomorrow. I can't believe I actually did 31 pushups...But at least it's only 2 days and not 5. Jake will be here both those days, and Justin will be here Wednesday, so the visitors will have company. I really should head off to bed... gonna be a fun week!
Yesterday my toilet started running, and not in the way that can be fixed by fishing the chain out from under the flapper valve and reattaching it to the lever. Today Maintenance fixed it -- and now the...morning I'll be calling the office .... Also, some unidentified neighbor has left two messy bags of trash, too overfilled to carry, outside my door, and Mr. Maintenance no doubt thinks that was me
I think I have determined why my basement office tends to be the warmest room in the house. But when I am really playing/working hard, it gets even warmer . Let us not go into details of the server closet! I suspect that the local power company will be sending me a Christmas card or something.... I also suspect that just maybe I have a bit of a geek in me.
Oh, yeah: WE HAVE A COUCH ! It finally arrived Thursday, to much fanfare (me going *squee* and telling the delivery guy he was my BEST FRIEND EVAR) and just in time for video night. It's ginormous-...is to move around now. I might actually be able to use the kitchen without swearing soon! I feel like we're finally getting properly moved in, only three and a half years after we signed the lease. ;
