I got home from Houston last night after a very goodinterviewing trip. The company is a long-established (over 100 years) oil-field tools company (primarily down-hole equipment) with a Well-Known Name...loyalty. I like that. It also didn't hurt that it was sunny and in the mid-70s there yesterday. :) So, time to write some thank-yous and do my scans of the job listings. I'm still unemployed
As a disclaimer, I don't have any issue with BEING trans. I mean I'm not proud OR ashamed of it, much like I'm not proud or ashamed of being of predominately Irish heritage or female. They're just things...trans just isn't significant in my day to day life and it sort of irritates the fuck out of me that I'm sort of forced into that identity by simple things like getting a job selling clothes over Xmas
I am officially employed. I have training next Wednesday. =) I WILL BE WORKING AT A DOGGIE DAYCARE IN HOBOKEN!#%^$#!#$ I must say, I have the best luck with job location. My last job was in Brooklyn...job is in a quaint little part of Hoboken (very far away from the PATH train). They have an A&P fresh (which looks different than an actual A&P). LOL. I love grocery stores. =P Today is a grand day
Here's a company I wish were public so everyone could share in its success: LinkedIn, the social network for business people. While MySpace got to critical mass first and Facebook became the poster child...ahead of the developers is a smart play. It'll be riveting to see whether this approachultimately trumps Facebook's open platform. http://www.time.com/time/business/article/0,8599,1854564,00.html

Eliot is absolutely, beautifully, wonderfully employed! The Saturn Cafe hired him this morning, and he had his first day today and it sounds amazing and lovely! And my house smells unbearably like sulfuric acid because sam needed a way to clean one of the bathtub drains, and that was the method of choice apparently... so there we are. :)
It takes enormous courage to walk away from your job, your income on principles. I am impressed with these folks in Indiana: Dozens Of Call Center Workers Walk Off Job In Protest Rather Than Read McCain Script Attacking Obama It's a hard thing to do in today's (lack of) job market... I wish them well. Perhaps the Republican slime machine will stop lying to people? Don't hold your breath.
Week 2: They Shoulda Never Given a Bitch Money Have decided to do weekly installments instead of daily because I can, and because daily is too time consuming. I forgot where I left off...baby a hat…and then I hit up Tar-Jay. That REALLY did it! My next check is going towards saving and bills…I think I got all that senseless spending out of me…somewhat. Well one can hope.
