Uhh... I didn't know if I should post this, but then again I just wanted to share my love for sewing anyway. I made myself a nice little pink and whiteAlice Bow, yet it is sloppy and the "Venice" lace...thinking? Sure, it's cotton... but it belongs on a dress an not on my head! Dx Pics under the cut. The bow... ... and ugly lil' me wearing it. I am so not an 'Alice'. (I look so dumb. D: )
A bit of theme and a bit of History today! A bit back I fell in love with posy or tussie mussie holders. Then in a stroke of luck I found some instructions from 1873 on how to make one out of beads! So...in their posy holder! (they would also wear the flowers given to them by admiring gentlemen in them to the ball). It has a loop at the end to it could hang from the hand or a chain whilst dancing
A little bit back I made a post about my love of folding fans , and decided after that to have a try at making some myself! I just think they look so elegant, and would make a wonderful accessory for...to figure out what to paint on it! The design on this one is a lady knotting, and 2 cats which were based on my own fluffy friends. I'm kind ofexcited about experimenting more with folding fans
Hello all! My name is Olivia, and although I've been lurking here for awhile, this is my first post! I just recently made myself a magnetic bulletin board out a metal serving tray. It turned out really...wire (roughly where my thumb is) to the tray using the duct tape. Find a good place to hang the tray. Now all that's left to do is get some pretty pictures to put up on your bulletin board!
I picked up a copy of a translation of Art Du Brodeur (Art of the Embroiderer) by Charles Germain De Saint-Auban who was the embroiderer to King Louis XV. It had a little bit on knotting! It talks a...for the wedding of the Dauphin (later Louis XVI) and other people and occasions. (and yes still going to try do a knotting tutorial, but time has been hard to find lately, sorry it's taking forever)
My current obsession du jour is fans. I think a beautiful fan can really set off an outfit and set a person out from the crowd, and it's so sad that they have all but disappeared these days. Wonderful... Great inspiration for any loli looking to paint her own fan! Right now I only have one fan, it's a Victorian mourning fan, a little goth perhaps but they way it catches the light is incredible!
I had some napkins that were plan red and very quickly I became tired of them and decided they needed some Lolita flare. So I broke out my embroidery kit and went to work. Here is the result of the first...a chain stitch. And I just thought the angle was cool on this one. I have one more napkin and I was thinking of maybe heart balloons, but I would love to hear other suggestions.
I did a little sampler with some knotted threads I had made on my new shuttle, and since a good few people were still wondering what you do with all those knots here are a couple of photos of some rough...string of single knots couched close together. Sadly I tried turning these into a headdress and failed, the good news is they didn't take too long to do and I got a few photos to share out of it all
With many Lolita living far away from each other, sharing photos often plays a big part of the lifestyle. Thanks so much to dollykat on my friends list I have a neat filter you can use to make...is upload your photo into the generator and it comes out like a Victorian photograph! I've enjoyed playing with it and thought a few people here might have fun time traveling with their photos too
I finally finished the embroidered fichu I was making, and thought I would share it as fancy work and part of the theme!! I personally am not a big fan of my arms and was looking for a way to cover...the fichu with the lace. You don't have to embroider one like I did, AND you can always make one in black for the goth girls! I hope this helps a few people stay coll and looking spiffy this Summer
