Random and unrelated sentences re: The Movie Where Susan Is Awesome and Amazing

"Hello, my name is Prince Caspian. You killed my father. Prepare to die." (so needs an icon) I'm trying to figure out how to best put the stress on this sentence so my sheer WTF gets expressed: perpetual... So, innocent wee girls can always find their way to God Aslan, but girls who develop breasts are bad? Later on, I'll have a post about Disney's skeevy racial issues and CS Lewis' skeevy gender issues

Guest Post: They Call Me Wonderful So I'll Be Wonderful If You Insist*

I got an email from my friend Mark today that he said I could quote up here. For a bit of an establishing shot, Mark is far more of a movie person than I am (and talks a lot about movies on his blog... Mark didn't come up with that title, I did, as the song's stuck in my head. His email to me was "Wonder Woman's Latest Portrayal". He's much more practical than I am, but I've been to more musicals

Topics Near to the Heart

One of my favourite things to do in this world is talking to people about things that they really really care about. So, when Amy (my friend, the botanist) and I go out some place and she finds a big book...you know that Amy has a wild-flower picking license? Because you need one of those in WA. I love her, she's so great. ** Bandom = Band + Fandom = people who adore bands and write a lot about them.

Buffy & Fan Service

Well, sleep has become an obvious write off for me . Next obvious step: More Buffy Thoughts! Having watched all of Season 3 and almost all of Season 4*, one of the things that's really stood out to...female audience. Having only seen a couple of episodes (only one of the current season), I can't really comment. ***** Every single time I watch that vid, I start to cry. I'm crying right now. Damn it.

Because Women Feel Things and Men Just Do Them - Stereotypes in Fantasy Novels

A friend of mine lent me a book a while back and I hate it. Not in that "I enjoy loathing this book" sort of way, but in the "I wish someone would take the author out back and give him a beating stern...Honour by Lois McMaster Bujold also has a very pro-active set of women, but it's the only book by her I've read so I can't speak for the rest of her work.] [Previously: Heroes, Heroines, and Fandom
