...from a felted sweater. If you don't have a felted sweater, polyester fleece works equally as well. I came upon this idea after struggling with trying to knit a circle that was firm enough for the bottom of a purse. Detailed instructions and illustrations are included in the pattern for picking up stitches from the felt circle.  You can find more information about this pattern on my website .
