I am thrilled and relieved to report, that as of 3:50 p.m. Eastern Time today, I have completed the first draft manuscript of The Calling , my first original supernatural thriller. Now I shall run my...that is done, I will consider taking a few hours off before I begin my read-through and polishing draft, starting from page one. * i had brunch today with a friend i hadn't seen in nearly 4 years! we both used to live in LA, and then she moved to NYC. then i moved to chicago, and somehow we never managed to see each other until...are 1/4 to 1/2 way finished. i'm a compulsive novel-starter. but hopefully, having finished this second one, i have started a trend. i said hopefully . enjoy the rest of your labor day weekend!
I did! Just a few minutes ago! The second draft will double its 45k wordcount. I've marked this draft with enough notes for new scenes that it'll at least do that. But I'm going to take a month off from it first, after weeks of intense concentration. I said I wanted to get this done by the end of August, and I did it. I nailed it! Yes! :))
I think I'm stuck. My first tactic at writing this story (still untitled, here I am calling it 'Ruby', for the main character) was to simply sit down, start at the beginning, and go . See, usually... and would I start over then? I also don't want to skip around, writing different plot points and favorite scenes. That hasn't worked for me in the past, and I doubt it'll work now. Boo. Stuck

Hooray! I finally got the first (and a half) draft of "Green Glass and Dreams of Tomorrow" complete. Now I can get to the part I love most--editing! Yeah, I am one of those freaks who loves the editing part. You get to take a piece of crap and rip something beautiful out of it. What's not to love?
