...an abundance of pine needles, so they got several inches of pine needles, and there's several inches more I can add to it once they dry from the rain today. We were supposed to get our first frost October 5th (average date). But it didn't arrive until October 24th, and it still didn't kill any plants. I've left my peppers in pots out there to give me an idea of when the first killing frost...
...the cold sky and some few shriveled and gold leaves cling to their summery perches. one flutters dejectedly to my feet at the corner of Grant and 3rd coming to rest on cracked sidewalk glittering in frost soon to melt. I breathe my own little personal cloud hanging round my face as though puffed from a pipe mingling with rising chai-scented steam from the tea strong, black, and spicy I hold between...
...! Anyway, for some reason, hearing some dude ramble on about how he serves students and workers all over cheered me up so amazingly much.... and i have no clue why XD This morning was the first big frost of the season, better start switching the clothes in my dresser with my winter stuff, although even in winter, i still usually wear jeans and a T-shirt. In school today we had a Spanish test, and...
...windows instead. Last week when it was still 80 degrees and muggy at midnight, I opened the windows anyway, just for spite. And now that they're open, they'll stay that way until nighttime brings a frost across my bedsheets. Growing up, Michigan autumns brought apple cider and fresh doughnuts from Kapnick's, downtown festivals, and hayrides. As I kid, I loved family outings of picking our own apples...
I felt very lucky to be able to attend an interview last night at the Canadian Stage Company where Frost/Nixon director Ted Dykstra asked historian James Reston Jr., on which the character “Jim Reston” in the play is based, a series of very pertinent questions dealing with themes of the play. Reston is extremely humble about his involvement in the Frost/Nixon interviews, despite the fact that...
We had our 1st frost of the season overnight but it wasn't a killing frost. First time this Autumn the birdbaths had ice on the water surface. First time I went outdoors wearing a thermal hoodie.. but I have NOT given up on Summer enough, yet, to change wardrobe from shorts to long pants! Today it is 48F at 2PM with a chilly wind from the NW.. but the sun is shining and it is not raining; we...
... Makes me realize just how much the years are working on me or against me. Not sure where I am going to go with it today. How many days are left of this project?? Feels like 30. There is a beautiful frost on the fence this morning. I want to photograph it but it will be dark for awhile yet. I hope the sunrise won't bring a wind. Should go see my mom today. I don't think she knows I am there. That...
Yesterday afternoon we had a few flakes of snow. I was outside with Damian during it and I have to say, I do not think he approved. His frown of concern was adorable when a few landed on him. ...Thanksgiving, so I wanted to wish a wonderful one to all my relatives and friends up north!

Watch this trailer because Michael Sheen is amazing. I saw previews for the above before I saw Burn After Reading , which was bizarrely funny... in a good way?? It was certainly entertaining. I just...long. I liked it. I'm still confused, but I liked it a lot, actually. The feel/tone of the movie was just beautiful. And Jake Gyllenhaal is so freaking adorable. Just thought you ought to know
