The Stars Blue Yonder by Sandra McDonald

I was lucky enough to come by an advance copy of The Stars Blue Yonder by Sandra McDonald / affinity8 / sandramcdonald , and the read was a visit with old friends. The book continues... and their friends and relatives, are each other. The Stars Blue Yonder is worth a marathon session of reads and re-reads if you're new to the series or coming back to it after a long absence

He writes like a girl

I know that many people have questioned whether gender bias does indeed exist in the genre. Here's proof positive.

New Books

Looking forward to two releases that hit the shelves tomorrow. True Detective is the latest mystery by Jonathan Kellerman. I've enjoyed his work since catching a TV movie version of his first book,...Edgar Award-winning When The Bough Breaks. Deadly Desire by Keri Arthur / kezarthur , which is the latest Riley Jensen, Guardian novel. I've really enjoyed this series. Good plotting. :-

more from james hadley chase's no orchids for miss blandish

‘Rocco stared at her. He had never seen a more beautiful girl. There was something familiar about her face. He felt almost sure he had seen this girl somewhere before. He moved silently...then he would pick Anna up for dinner. As he drove away, two detectives, acting on Brennan's instructions, took up positions where they could watch the entrance of the club without being seen.

the opening of chapter four of no orchids for miss blandish, by james hadley chase

wikipedia on James Hadley Chase:   "Following the U.S. Great Depression (1929-1939), Prohibition, and the gangster culture during this period, and after reading James M. Cain's novel The Postman...be picked up. A couple of the boys will be watching the club.” Fenner grunted. “ Let's go,” he said. Brennan started the car and drove fast out of the town and onto the highway.

Learning To Read ...

... The Shadow. Working through issue #3 of The Shadow reprints and I'm finally figuring out their attraction. It helps that I found issue 2 better than the books Nostalgia Ventures selected for the first...paragraphs as if I was an announcer, filling in blanks between dialogue and sound effects and the story pace took off. Definitely a lesson learned today that I can put away in my personal toolbox. :-

And The Zombie Is ...

Brains, Trains and Automobiles by shsilver ! shsilver 's suggested literary crossover was an early front runner and held off a last-minute run by Dances with Zombies, which was another...the first draft before Worldcon, so I've approximately 23 weeks to work. The two winners can comment on the entry to let me know which book they would like to receive so we can arrange mailing. :-

Zombie Poll -- With Prizes

OK, here's the contest I promised. There weren't as many suggestions as I would want, so I'm going to spice things up a bit. As previously noted, the winner gets two prizes: insertion as a character into...doubles) recruit votes to improve your chances and the chances of your friends to win a prize as well. This is the first contest I've run, so I want it to go well. :-) View Poll: Zombie Literati
