Inferno Metal Festival, March 31st - April 3rd 2010

Well, I seem to have left this so late that I've forgotten what actually happened. Never fear, however, because I will make it up as I go along! We got to Norway quite successfully, to my surprise...enjoying themselves on stage. They played for 45 minutes and the guy standing next to me filmed it all, drum solo and everything! Overall, probably my favourite band of the festival. OBSCURA

The tennis

It is with a heavy heart that we have decided not to go to Bloodstock this year. Sad, because we've always had fun despite the line-up never being anything spectacular. But this year it's just not worth...to the Armageddon Festival in London". Hmm? So this means that we've got nothing else exciting this summer :( Boo. Well, the Red Arrows will be coming to the Dawlish carnival, that's always fun..

HELLLLLFESSSSSTTT!!! WINE! SLAYER!

Our holiday got off to a dodgy start as we arrived at the Travelodge in Poole on Wednesday night, to discover we'd been allocated room 404! Luckily, we did manage to find it. We amused ourselves that...same tactic as before, we got to the front quite quickly and Warrel Dane and co were... thoroughly underwhelmed by their fans. Jeff Loomis and one of the other guys seemed nice enough though. His hair

Sworn To The Duck (quack quack)

...I was wearing my Razor Of Occam t-shirt (that's one of his other bands) -- I don't know why, but I find it cringe-worthy to bump into a member of a band while wearing one of their t-shirts (their own gigs excepted, of course). It happened to me at Inferno too (Susperia!!). I dunno, I just find it all a bit silly. So then, it was time for Repugnant. This was our main band of the evening. Greg got further...

This week

...though, even if it did seem a bit impersonal at the time. I do wonder where everyone was, though. I think people in the south west have an aversion to travelling. None of the people we see at Exeter gigs were there. The people we see at Plymouth gigs don't go to Exeter. If we want bands to come to the south west, we actually have to be willing to go to the next city for it!! It's no wonder we have...

Tonight

We're going to see Setherial and Impiety in Bristol. It sounds like fun but I'm tired. I hope that doesn't spoil it. I have some brand new earplugs to try. I've always worn disposable foam ones, but...so far up my ear canal that they get lost. I don't think that can actually happen, but I may be thinking of tampons. You definitely couldn't lose a tampon in your ear canal, not even a "lite" one..

It's so cold in the years of infinityyyyyyyy

So we pretty much had the best time ever in Oslo. It's been weird since we got back, with a variety of strange things distracting me, but I don't always mind a distraction. Especially if it meows. I put...particularly keen, despite knowing how much it costs to stay in London at the weekend, so I expect we will be donning our spikes and heading over there. We'll have to remember to buy some spikes first

Gigs Part 2: Ulver

...was much more confident and engrossing this time. Garm actually seemed to be having fun, and played much more of a frontman role this time around. It was definitely my favourite of the two gigs, and I'll certainly be interested to see how they come across at Hellfest, in a different setting entirely. Overall, very glad we went. Ulver Of course, we did have to return to the dungeon...

Final Hellfest line-up

Full line-up and stages. I am pleased. Especially looking forward to Watain, My Dying Bride, Nachtmystium, Slayer, Nile, Immortal, Dark Funeral, Nevermore, Carcass, Hypocrisy, Dying Fetus, Kampfar,...me cry REAL TEARS of REAL BLOOD. It does. Recently I've had so much Marduk and such little sleep that I've neglected to write about... anything, really. I'll write about Satsuma later. He's orange

Susperia

Greg has offered to take me to see Susperia at the Hard Rock Hell Festival in Prestatyn. £70 for the tickets and a ten hour round trip in the car... for one band. I feel I would be abusing Greg's love..."ATTITOOD", although they spell it "ATTITUDE" for some reason. We've been back for more than a week now and I still haven't produced a single holiday photo. Hmm. I'm not quite sure I'm still alive
