So, fuck all y'all... Ronya just told me she figures we hiked a total of 28 miles. 28 frickin' miles. That's 44.8 kilometres. Holysweet Mary, Joseph, and the donkey....
Some people go to parties Halloweenweekend. I will be hiking around 36 miles, the 9 Peaks hike in the San Gorgonio Wilderness. (We're converting it to an out-and-back from the San Bernardino Peak trailhead, all the way along the ridge to Mount San Gorgonio, then back, since we don't feel like using two cars.) Current reports indicate water availability is excellent, temperatures are low 60s during...
On Tuesday we went to Cardinia Reservoir, a nearby green space (not that anything is brown here -- well, yet) to walk the dogs. It has lovely walking trails and we set out on about an hour-long jaunt up...day... ...but I don't remember seeing a "no EATING the kangaroos" sign (allow this is how I imagine it would look): And what can I say? I think Maggie's right -- it puts a SPRING in your step!
...with normal mail) and will take out the rest tomorrow hopefully. Tash helped me sort up and cross cut for me. She kindly took all of the letters out for her cross cut! I finished at 2ish. We went hikingup north on Monday since it was Labour Day. We scouted around the South Head Peninsula, though couldn't figure out how to actually get to the reserve (there were no signs or anything). We did find...
Fall has come to Boston. Yay!
Phototaken at the Middlesex Fells, Stoneham. Remember, Boston-folk: You don't have to drive up to the WhiteMountains to go outside. The Fells and the Blue Hills are beautiful this time of year and are most likely no more than 30 minutes away from where you live.
The beginning of my walk, overlooking the canal, at the pedistrian bridge at the Savannah Rapids Pavillion. Looking at the Quarry from the hiking path. Along the way I see sunbathing turtles (there were more than this one) and at the 2 mile marker...it's civilization in the midst of nature...there is Interstate 20. My absolute favorite place along...
...defeat". I think that's a worthy goal. I think I'm up to about 33 seconds... I am in surprisingly good shape today… The gracious, patient and ever so fit madeileen took me hiking yesterday. I met her at the ungodly hour of 08:00 at the EMS station in Kananaskis. We parked at the start of the Evans‑Thomas trail, and started walking. We kept walking. We walked some more...
So, I was on my own today - my hiking partner didn't show. He called about 8:45am while I was already on the road to say he was at the hospital with his son who had an athsma attack early that morning. What can you say to that except - I hope everything will be alright. The drive to Enchanted Rock was long but beautiful. Driving solo I could daydream and sing with my iPod when I felt like it. ...
Fella and I drove to Neah Bay this weekend, and of course we had to take the trail to the most-tippiest tip of Washington State. I'd rate it easily in my top 10: Not difficult if you have good knees and...-- the view with the lighthouse: We arrived about an hour before sun-down, and there were a couple wales that were hanging out in the cove, randomly rising to blow before sinking down again:
