Since I will soon be departing from my lovely child-hood home, I have been going over the furniture I will be keeping. And since organizing stuff is about as close as I get to the whole "oh yay! buy things...from now, when I get everything set up. Perhaps I COULD put them both on my desk. But that'd be pushing it. Perhaps on a table in my closet and I can put the wire table next to my door. Brilliant

Currently revising the "Cafe Flesh" piece before I send it off. The bulk of the article is pretty good but I always have to watch my apparent lust for comma usage and the occasional awkward sentence. There...and the heat. And it is friggin hot outside. (Just call me Countess Dorkula.) I'm nowhere done with trying to get everything clean but hell, it's a start. Random want of the day: A Kimono.
So, bringing a new baby home to a house with no nursery and a neurotic cat is a recipe for chaos of Miltonian proportions. We had bought a crib and toybox back at the start of the China adoption process...the mix in a couple of years, I went with something relatively ungendered. Now that it's done I can feel the insanity ebbing at last...it's nice not having the changing table in the living room!
I need ideas to make my bathroom less of a pit of darkness and despair. My bathroom is small and old, with awful barely-pink tiles (may have been white way back when??). The main problem is the light...it if need be) or yellow (barfy, sorry) what color I could paint the bathroom to liven it up a bit, counteract the yellowy light, and make it less....sallow? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
My internet was down this morning and Natalie went to VBS which gave me an unusual amount of free time and no internet addiction with which to fill it. This can be a dangerous combination for me, especially...glass and attached a pretty finial to the pull-chain. Now our kitchen sink has a light. It also has a pile of dirty dishes. Why do I not feel equally inspired to tackle those? Before: After:
I have a house that shifts frequently (one day you can't get the door to stay shut; the next, you can't pull it open with a pro wrestler). I also have a dog who sometimes has accidents (urine) and cats...about, stand up to dog accidents and cat hacking? Is one kind of wood better than another? 3) If I avoid wood, does anyone know if you can get a carpet pad replaced without getting a whole new carpet
My wonderful father spent a total of ten hours in our laundry room today. He finished installing molding, shelves and really, really annoying ceiling tiles. Those tiles caused him hours of weeping and...SO MUCH!!! My finished utility/laundry room in it's messy state. A few of the tiles still needed a little extra push on the glue. Soon I'll get it all shined up and post a real "finished" picture
I'm getting antsy to do something with our bedroom. I haven't unpacked anything to actually personalize our room because it wouldn't make sense to hang stuff up just to take them down to paint. Anyway... I'm thinking about some sort of blinds to keep out the street lights at night since it looks like the curtains are slightly sheer. Bamboo shades maybe? I have no idea what I'm doing. Help?
