adventures in baking soda

Today I used baking soda to scrub my toilet, and then I used it to de-tarnish my silver jewelry!  Sodium bicarbonate, how I love thee. I used to think (i) a sweet-talking salesgirl ripped me off in China...sterling and (y) a cup of boiling water, one tablespoon each of salt and baking soda, a piece of aluminum foil, and about 10 seconds will do the job.  No scrubbing necessary...it's a spectator sport.

Organization: Help! I've Been Buried in My Mail Avalanche

Help! I've Been Buried in My Mail Avalanche We've all felt that way from time to time, haven't we? We've all struggled with a way to dig ourselves out from under the piles that can come from...to it when it arrives. It may seem like a daunting task but you'd be amazed at how much you can get done in a small chunk of time--15, 10 or even just 5 minutes will make your life so much easier!

How to Be Humble

" In reality there is perhaps no one of our natural Passions so hard to subdue as pride. Disguise it, struggle with it, beat it down, stifle it, mortify it as much as one pleases, it is still alive, and... don't confuse being humble with being sycophantic (being overly-praiseful of someone for your own profit). This is a common misconception, but the two attitudes are completely different. Source

Framing question

I know someone mentioned this recently, but are there any online websites that have kits for framing on your own? I'm wondering because I want to frame my Oregon Trail/Firefly piece (when I'm done with...because it's a simple piece and not worth the $100 or so to frame it professionally. I thought there was a site where you could get the whole kit, complete with instructions, or am I imagining things

How to Increase Posting Frequency

To have an effective blog, you need to post frequently. People forget about you if you're silent. The minimum effective activity is about once a week; once a day is ideal. If your current frequency is...material onto LJ. Look for memes that don't take long to answer. Short quizzes and networking memes are terrific for this. Here are some meme resources: ljmemes Ashamel Memes Blog Quiz

Gearing up for Nano...

I devour books in general on a pretty massive scale and I just can't resist a 'how to' book, especially when it comes to writing. I like learning so I pick these up in the hope that I can glean something...a month? That's kinda scary!! So I have my fingers crossed and, hopefully Rockstar will be out of the way by the weekend so I can have a week plotting (read doing buggar all) before nano kicks off
