Radioactivity It's been a couple weeks since I mentioned the radioactive dumping in DR Congo's Mura River .  Since then, a lot has been happening there, regarding the dumping and a number of other issues...locals not to hunt bonobos will reduce the incidence of monkeypox (even though bonobos are apes)?  Only we don't know the incidence yet.  I'll get back to you on that when the papers are published

So they have decided that the hemorrhagic fever that has cropped up in DR Congo is indeed Ebola.  Around 400 people are affected thusfar, and around 180 have died.  An estimated 90% of people that contract...to support the field operations and to facilitate access to the affected area. [For the record, I do know about the outbreak and I am not there and when I go back, I will not be in Kasai Occidental.

A couple months ago, I meant to post this link to an article that announced that female genital mutilation (FGM)* had been banned in Eritrea.  I thought it was cause for celebration.  In fact, I still...of corrosive substances or herbs into the vagina to cause bleeding or for the purpose of tightening or narrowing it; and any other procedure that falls under the definition given above.
