Holy ******'n christ. Not only did the independant DBPro comic The Dresden Files "Welcome to the Jungle" 4 issue original miniseries (written by Jim) hold its own against the big boys at Marvel and... http://www.dabelbrothers.com/index.php?categoryid=16&p2_articleid=25 If you don't know why this is a big deal to me personally: http://pics.livejournal.com/michael_finn/pic/00001q2h
When reviewing this graphic novel, I have tried to be as partial as I can be. But the problem is that I am just a Jim Butcher fan that it is very hard. I have read all of the books, I am play testing...knows he gets himself into a lot of trouble. But beyond that, he does what he feels is right and tries to protect others as much as he can. Rating 9.5 out of 10. I guess I was not THAT impartial.
Well this is a discovery. Ladies and gentlemen, those who know me well know that I wish to become a writer. Sure I wax on about doing this or that(doing comics or visual design) but rankly, these wants...help. So, if you're interested in writing and are looking for some advice as to a nifty process or difficulties or even just wanna read more of his material head on over to his journal and enjoy.
Okay, so I saw the new Twilight trailer. I am so much more excited for the movie than I was before!. It looks like it could be really awesome. I also had a lot of fun talking with my parents about how... a Julia Roberts, an Elizabeth Bennet, and a Will Turner. All these names just make me giggle when people come in to pick up their stuff. I think that this is all for now Stay sharp people Bella
Thank goodnessSeptember is over. It has been a rough month. . . . With luck things will settle down, and I can get back to my normal routine of reading and watching TV. I have recorded several shows...I started it. . . Having slept since then, I'm foggy on the details. . . Next on my list is "Howling At The Moon" by Karen MacInerney, looking forward to this one, I love books about werewolves.
Watched a fewepisodes of the Dresden FilesTV show online... decent by themselves, but when you know the books, they just fall very short. Too much of a crime show, not enough magic. It was probably budgeting...issues at the ground level. It's such a shame, because Paul Blackthorne really fits as Harry Dresden. And the 'cover art' with him holding up that little ball of bluish-white flame is gorgeous
Read the Princeps' Fury prologue: http://www.jim- butcher.com/ books/alera/ 5/ The first of six Princeps' Fury sample chapters will be available online at jim's official site. The first one...on this series is http://www.jim-butcher.com/ If you haven't checked out his urban fantasy series, The Dresden Files, I would recommend that as well. You are really missing out! Highly recommended
As the Blog Turns! What is this thing called "BLOG"? To type, perchance to blog? Haven't been for ages! Doing the normal stuff... house stuff and errands, nothing terriblyexciting. Tiny little...up for exhibits I want to participate in... New stuff to see here in Texas, too. Visits to Paris, West, Austin/San Antonio, etc.... should be fun if the gas prices don't jump too drastically.
Storm Front by Jim Butcher Book One of the Dresden Files Roc 2000 322 pages Urban fantasy/mystery This book was recommended to me by several friends on Goodreads, though an equal number weren't...- and pondering - as Harry did, it was never very clear why he was doing this or that, and at the end of the day the book just wasn't as clever as it had set out to be - and set expectations for
Book 31. Something from the nightshade by Simon R. Green fantasy 240 pages I have seen this one around for a while. I thought about buying it because there is a quote on the book from Jim Butcher... Yeah, this book was ok. Nothing too great, or awful about it. John Taylor felt a bit too much like a Dresden clone, but overall it was a decent read. Doubt I will read any more of them though.
