Went to see the show today. http://www.irishrepertorytheatre.com/ Was so so satisfied with it - very creative. And again IMO much better than Hollywood. Alla

The book. Why? Because lots of...you heard of Jules Verne? Yeah, the dudepredicted SO MUCH in books. NASA, cars, internet, air conditioning... and he died in the 1800s before any of this. Plus, two words: Harry Potter. Nuff said.
It turns out that there's this little group of people who believe everything Jules Verne wrote about is somewhat factual! Took me going to see Journey tothe Center of the Earth 3-D in order to find this...I still managed to get lunch (and even stopped for mini-cheesecakes at a bakery!) and make it home by 2:25 pm. Then I ran around getting dressed and then outta there! Was only 2 minutes late! Yay
HELLBOY 2: THE GOLDEN ARMY- http://enterline-media.tripod.com/hellboy2.html JOURNEY TOTHE CENTER OF THE EARTH- http://enterline-media.tripod.com/journey3d.html I might go see THE DARK KNIGHT at midnight on Thursday.
I realize that 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea was written in 1863, before the electrical age really began, but who talks like this?! [Professor Aronnax upon discovering that the Nautilus is entirely...powered by electricity;] "It is marvellous! and I see, Captain, you were right to make use of this agent that takes the place of wind, water, and steam." I love readingJules Verne. He's so much fun
I'm still running my VENTURE BROTHERSLARP in August. I still plan to run my GHOSTBUSTERS LARP... down the line. (I've got to talk with the Bowmans a bit on that one.) But now, I'm starting to get a...THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN...) I'm pondering an original setting, possibly/probably with literary and cinematic pastiches, and with a strong emphasis on props, costumes, and so forth..
Today I watched a movie version (4hours30Minutes!!!11) of a well-knownJulesVerne -book. I never get tired of his works. He's my alltime favouriteauthor.
Est’s wand hovered over his latest project. This next charm would mean he would never fail an exam again. Whether that was because he had crated the perfect cheating device or had blown up half the common...valid. This was it, this was go time, this was… *fizzle* A single line of smoke rose from the jumble of gears and levers before him. What? Not even a respectable explosion? “CURSE YOU JULESVERNE!”
I've been musing on the geography of JulesVerne's Around the World in 80 Days . Most of the places marked in the books are well known, and even described fairly accurately, but India appears to be...actually on the railway line , which passes some way to the east of it. But I imagine that Verne was not striving for total accuracy. ( Bill Butcher has more on this.) Map of the area from 1893:
