...even have that class. But at least I have homework club soon. Can you guess which library I'm at? No, not the one on Hastings street, the one at Britannia school! We're here with Sierra's friend, Lakota. She's pretty cool! We're going to be back in time to go to room 321 at lunch because that's the best room in the world. I have nothing to do on the computer right now, but since Stella got her...
We took Lakota (our paint) to the vet today. She got cut when she was loaded into a trailer for the fist time and it never healed... it had a nasty growth on it so we finally got a hold of a trailer and got her loaded (hard b/c she isn't broke but not as difficult as I would have thought). We get there and the vet tranq's her which is so sad to see the baby standing there, not being able to lay down...
...cigarette. On the flip side, I always thought the location of the Rushmore monument couldn’t give a bigger F you to the American Indians. The Black Hills are a scared place for the Lakota and for American Presidents to be memorialized here is akin to Muslims building a mosque on the Temple Mount; both sides have their claims to the location’s significance, and both feel slighted...
...time so they may leave early... don't know really. Curtis, a friend of dad's, finally got out to mow and bale the field... his mower is broken so they are both out working on that... our newest horseLakota had to have her leg sprayed with some disinfectant b/c she got it cut... now she's a bit skittish around us again... I got her to come up to me yesterday at feeding time so she's slowly coming around...
... A donation of $50 will keep a family warm this winter. Your generous gift today can help families and elders have both food and heat during these difficult times. As I bring more and more over here from myspace, making this my primary journal, I'm going to start posting these occasionally. All the art/jewelery are made by people living in the Lakota Pine Ridge reservation, one of the very poorest communities in our nation. All the moneyraised by volunteers selling the crafts on eBay go back to the artist to help them make a living or back to the community....
Yesterday I attended a Lakota Sweatlodge ceremony for the first time. The group that offered it, the Standing Bear Community , is simply wonderful. I've been curious about sweats for many a season--I've had occasion to talk to many Pagans over the years who have experienced one, and their responses have always been positive. So when an open sweat was put on the md_pagans list, how I could...
...his wings again. Guess who has more work to do now. This is understandable of course. Its still silly as hell. "You milk cow are now officially a flying horse". Milk cow is impressed. The Lakota Sioux Indians, whose ancestors include Sitting Bull, Red Cloud and Crazy Horse, have withdrawn from all treaties their forefathers signed with the U.S. government and have declared their independence...
Shannon & Tim had their annual vacation (alone) so we got Lakotamid-day on Friday till mid-day today (monday). All was good though, well, other then the pure excitement from Perrin when they arrived. I had to take a breather outside alone while they played and screamed.... For the better part, Friday was rather uneventful. Saturday however, was filled with much fun. I got up, played on the net till...
