I've finished most of TNG Season 4, now. Not all of it, because two of the discs have been lost/broken/stolen from the library system somewhere along the way. Fortunately, one library still has them on...bad example for Jake. But from the episode where he demanded Sisko recommend him to Star Fleet Academy, I became fascinated with him, always waiting for the episodes that advanced that storyline along

I was obviously too preoccupied (ahem Hamlet ahem) to notice this all over the news on Friday, but Alan Bennett has donated (not sold, Ted Hughes' estate please note, but donated) his entire archive...apparently behind it, but by the thought of the difficulty the Cataloguing department are going to have in stopping themselves chortling over the stuff and actually getting down to doing something with it.

On the public library electronic discussion list, a group of people were talking about military recruitment in schools and libraries. Most of the "pro" people had served in one or another of the armed services. So, I took the opportunity, as someone who's never been in the military to say: We've heard from several list members with military experience. The closest thing I have to military experience...

So, today, we did go to the Library . It was shut for renovations most of the summer so I couldn't register, but it's now reopened. It is a typical small English town library, gifted to the town by the...put it top of her pile already. Shrub's already read the two books she took out. Which means given it's half term I might have to take her back for more. What a shame. I'll have to force myself

I was on the reference desk about an hour ago and got a frantic call from someone looking for a copy of a medical-themed movie. Client cannot find it available anywhere and needs it to do some final fact...to try to remember to bring it to her tomorrow. I hope my copy is still playable. (Incidentally, I dialled a wrong number TWICE trying to leave myself the message. Sometimes I really am an idiot.

Spent yesterday on Whidbey in Island time, very relaxed and contented.  The weather cooperated with sun overhead and a teriffic blue sky, with only a few clouds on the horizon.  My friends Pam and Pam's...beach, where Pam let Lacy roam in the off leash area, and I took pictures of the calmness of the water from a picnic bench.  I felt as calm as the water, and I loved the whole afternoon.          

Today I did a fairly extensive workshop on the symbolism in the tarot. It was attended by one very happy and enthusiastic participant and two staff members. But I got great reviews. It makes me feel like...3 grande cups of coffee. I need some real food. It's been a long and eventful day. Now, I'm going to chill. And this chilling will continue through tomorrow.
