Today is "Ash Thursday" - an annual excuse for a fairly low key performance by Blackheath Morris Men at their home pub, the excellent Ashburnham Arms (hence the rib-ticking play on words), Ashburnham Grove, Greenwich. From about 8.30pm - pop by if you're near, good beer (Shepherd Neame), nice pub, some nice blokes with bells and hankies...what more could you want?

According to a notice pinned in the window of our local shop, the Hindu procession that I first wrote about here back in 2005, is due to occur again tomorrow. It passes down Leahurst Road, and we rush...tabards of the Thurkkai Amman Temple in Ealing, which is probably a clue, it seems to be the work of the Sri Lankan community. Blackheath Morris are having a dancing tour of Greenwich on Thursday night (tomorrow, that is), I shall be joining in after the children are a-bed, so might miss the first pub.
